Lack of sex appeal and the female rapper lane was kinda full at the time. It wasn't like now, where you can have multiple big female rappers. Amil is kinda ugly, no disrespect.

1.) she wasnt on def jam like the rest of them.
and her distributor(i think sony) didnt push her well at all.
2.) she didnt really care about rap like that anyway.

- Being light skinned
- Being signed to Roc-a-fella
While she didn’t sound like any other female, technically she was poor rapper, below average flow, delivery and charisma.
She wasn’t ugly but she didn’t look as good as Kim, Foxy, Eve, Boo and Charli…during that era, sexy appeal was becoming more of a thing. It’s a reason why Charli kept getting opportunities and it wasn’t because of her skills lol
If the Roc didn’t sign her, I doubt that she was going to get a record deal anywhere else.
