youre talking about history but people dont take anything that far...
people deal with whats in front of them
That's the problem with people, especially White people.
When it comes to Black people they love to play this game to make themselves feel better (hands clean) as if hundreds of years in their role of shaping the negative image of Black Americans through media propaganda, laws, etc have no weight or significance to how people in the year of 2023 treat and think of Black Americans.
That's how a typical white person who lives in a bubble and in denial thinks because they're too cowardly to acknowledge the truth about them.
Everything revolves around history, it's intellectually dishonest to pretend as if events from the past have no bearing on a person's feelings and personal beliefs they have toward another group of people.
in the modern era if someone has a negative opinion of black folks it is because they're looking at the crime in major cities and the lack of performance of black folks in areas not dealing with entertainment
not sure how anyone can make this thread and get offended with the answer
with that said...
as a black person if you have a little bit of sense you can bypass all that relatively easy
Racists use crime talking points as a crutch for why they're “weary and have disdain” towards a Black person because they're too cowardly to stand on their own and always need an excuse to justify their actions, so they use crime talking points as a neutral way to mask their microaggressions and prejudices as “precautionary safety measures” because of “crime stats saying ____”.
Secondly, a Black person having a career in the entertainment world is not an excuse to be filled with animosity and disdain for Black Americans...unless it's coming from a place of jealousy, other than that your example makes no sense in that regard. Bringing up “lack of performances” in other fields of life just sounds like you throwing an insult/jab on their behalf...
The classic talking point from a Racist White/Non-Black person: “
Ahh, I can't stand those ______! All they do is make awful music, commit overwhelming amounts of crime, and play basketball/football...can't stand 'em, that's why I hate them, a total detriment to society!”
I'm not saying those are your words however all you did was allude to that sentiment by making the baseline claim of black people being and bringing nothing more than crime and entertainment to this society. If you are Black you're doing a disservice to yourself and other Black people by giving credence to a racist person's sentiments while sneakily trying to make sense of it all when there is none to make.
