How did Black politics fail the last 50 years post civil rights and voting rights act? What should we have done better?

I can’t do this with y’all. My understanding of what limits us as a people has shifted from where it was even 2 years ago. I used to think like a lot of y’all. I don’t anymore.

I legit used to think it was all talk, but it’s reality. I had someone SHOW me how things really work and when I tell you it’s you and only you who controls your reality, you can take it or leave it.

So please, oh enlightened one, explain how 44 million Black Americans can just leave and start fresh somewhere else. Please, explain the logistics on that feat from the costs of transportation to access to resources to support a population over 100k.

It's not really a brain dead take. We practiced group economics more before integration. The problem with integration is the mentality it created in us. Instead of working together we ran towards cacs and rejected group power.

And we own less of the economy than before integration and face the same violence , but now also from each other. We are basically second class citizens, nothing really changed.

When black folk get successful, they more often than not leave the community. It’s not even always related to proximity to whiteness, because even in integration resources still aren't fairly distributed. You move to the burbs to avoid crime and have better schools, so that knowledge and money flees the community. And usually choose to procreate with who you're around, so wealth that is accumulates never makes back to the larger black community.

It’s really hard to change an environment or change the values of a ppl. I think the safety/crime and poor living conditions played a bigger role.

Even today, our “educated” or those making a nice income still wanna get out of the hood… doesn’t mean they wanna be next to white ppl but they want a safe place with good schools. if you try to fix the hood, it’s kinda gentrification

Yeah integration was the worse thing that ever happened to Black Americans and if anyone comes at me about saying it, look at how things are going for us now. They give loans to non black folks to start businesses in our communities, but denying loans to us when we want to start businesses in our communities. That’s a part of desegregation.

I live in one of the whitest neighborhoods in Chicago, after living in one of the most hood neighborhoods in Philly, because it's walking distance to everything I like to do.
