How Did Bron End Up In The Class Of 03?

Im born and raised outta North Philly…that America right? And I also have a bday at the end of the year and I was 17 when I graduated outta high school. No skipping grades either.. So no it’s not that obvious bruh.

My birthday is late October, my parents didn't want me to stay in preschool another year so they put me in private school, so I was always younger than everyone. I had a friend in class that was born two days after me, but the year before me.

"Technically" I was supposed to be in the class after me.

Yep The OP basically started his senior year as a 16 yr old. That is NOT the norm, at least where I’m from.

Everyone started their senior year at 17, and turned 18 throughout the school year. The ones that were still 17 when they graduated, was due to their birthday occurring during the summer time.

There's a chapter in there that detailed how being born during certain months increases your chances of being a sports star.

It covered Hockey. Some crazy ass stat like 80% of all NHL players are drafted were born in Oct, Nov, Dec ( I'm making up the months, I dont remember the exact months ).

This is because the way little league hockey is set up in Canada, kids born in these month are pretty much a full year older than most of the other kids they play against.

So they have the size, speed, strength and intelligence advantage off RIP. This leads to them getting selected to more all star teams and more travel league teams. Which, means they get better and more coaching while also playing better competition than what they usually face in rec league.

Now, you multiply that times 10 years of Hockey playing and you have a crazy advantage over others.


The book gives other examples of certain ppl being born during the right years, or areas and that playing a pivotal part in said person becoming who they were.

Yup. I'm Nov '87 and graduated at 17. My cousin in Florida is a month older than me but was a grade below me and graduated the year after. As a kid I never knew why he was a grade below.

It may have have change. In the DMV area (or at least PG county) we didn't do that late birthday shyt either. I have a December birthday but I heard now they do. Gotta be of age before September or some shyt.

Yeah, but that logic wouldn’t really apply here as much because of how our sports are set up, at least basketball. But yeah I read that book too, found that same thing pretty interesting; makes a lot of sense too. I’m pretty sure it was the kids born at the BEGINNING of the year who would have the advantage and those born at the end of the year would be at a huge disadvantage.

Their sports were set up as Class of whatever year you were born. So a kid born in January 2000 is essentially a year older than a kid born in December 2000, so even though they’d play in the same league being a year older makes a HUGE difference when you’re young.

Some of yall are are just not informed. Different states have different guidelines when it comes to school enrollment.

Some states follow school calendar (begins in september, ends in august) whereas others go by the year you are born.

It also varies for elementary and middle schools. I went to a kindergarten to 6th grade elementary. Middle school was just 7th and 8th. High school was 9th to 12th.
