The south and midwest have September cutoffs for starting school, probably for football purposes.

Up north and out west, it's all year-round (though I think some states cutoff at December). I was born in November and started school in Connecticut, and started the same year as everyone else born in 1992. But when I moved to Georgia, most folks born at the same time of the year as me were a grade behind, so I was one of the 2 or 3 youngest people in my grade.

Some of yall are are just not informed. Different states have different guidelines when it comes to school enrollment.

Some states follow school calendar (begins in september, ends in august) whereas others go by the year you are born.

It also varies for elementary and middle schools. I went to a kindergarten to 6th grade elementary. Middle school was just 7th and 8th. High school was 9th to 12th.
Yup, that's how it was in New York, but in Georgia middle school is 6th-8th. shyt was growing pains for me because I moved to Georgia in 6th grade so had no form of preparation for jumping to middle school.

Many jurisdictions put you into the next school year, if you are born after Sept. 1.

This is how it was in Illinois. I was born September 26th and had to wait an entire year because the cutoff date was September 1st.

Yup. I'm Nov '87 and graduated at 17. My cousin in Florida is a month older than me but was a grade below me and graduated the year after. As a kid I never knew why he was a grade below.

That’s been the norm where im from. You go in according to your year of birth. This whole you can’t start til the next school year cause you got a late birthday shyt is weird to me:ehh:

He got a December birthday. They’re normally “a year” older than the rest of the people in their class.
I’m a December baby and it’s the opposite in my case. I was always the youngest in my class. It depends on what school district the state in. DMV let’s you start school earlier at age 4. Everybody in my graduation class was 18 going on 19. I had just turned 17 my senior

The school year begins in August/September and ends in May/June. Lebron’s birthday is in December and he turned 18 his senior year of HS, so he’s normal aged for his class.

A player who was young for his class was Shaq, who turned 18 in March of his freshman year at LSU. Likewise for Duncan, who turned 18 in April in his freshman year at Wake Forest.

And you were probably the youngest in your class every year of school.

My birthday is late October, my parents didn't want me to stay in preschool another year so they put me in private school, so I was always younger than everyone. I had a friend in class that was born two days after me, but the year before me.

"Technically" I was supposed to be in the class after me.
We did the same to my sister. Tried to do it to my daughter but I couldn't find a school that would do it.
