I listen to their morning show daily, but only that, so I can't speak to the station as a whole.
For the morning show, I think that they distanced themselves from the wave of NY drill rap after a few things hit close to home earlier (KastOne was cool w/ Pop Smoke, Ebro was beefing w/ Taxstone before the Troy Ave situation, etc.) Also though the core team just got older and their audience grew with them.
As the media landscape shifted, the morning show covers a wider variety of topics that are typically more useful/interesting to a +30 crowd. I definitely understand the disdain they get from social media clips and arguments, but the show is actually a lot more nuanced and able to discuss race/politics/life in a way that something like The Breakfast Club does not have an ability to do. Even the convo w/ Mister Cee after he got caught w/ a transgender back in the day is an example of real conversations that aren't really seen on other popular outlets.
I wouldn't recommend the show if you want to hear detailed convos about current rap at all, but for everything else, it's my go to.
