Disrespectful to Jody. If you walk around your broad house a$$hole naked, dikk and balls swinging and your girl's kid is there, that's not cool. It's not cool on the woman's part because she lets it happen.
Melvin was trolling Jody.

Jody wasn't just living at home but he was living at home AND not taking care of business which is why Melvin was doing all that extra shyt.

it's backwards blaming the individuals bearing the results of generations of fukkery

at jody same age as jody momma & melvin were most likely in what life position¿

it's the same cycle

it's a extreme minority who navigate their way out of those circumstances with no blueprint

nikkas wanna make it a hahaha jody lives with his momma thing but what the fukk do you expect from someone raised like jody was raised¿

oh he should go live with one of his babymothers¿

the emotional intelligence impulse control & all the other characteristics that would enable him to successfully cohabitate with a woman are some more things he was never given

jody living with one of his bm's leads to chaos & drama on a whole new level

son would have ended up punching one of his shorties in they grill way sooner ha

excellence does not come from inferior circumstances

like i said it's a movie because in real life it woulda ended up bad & sad in the end

y'all ain't cool or tough cut it out ha

he lived in a whole ass house with just one other person.

why would he leave?? just so he could impress a bunch of people who really could care less about his well-being?? that's stupid.

he had no reason to leave before Melvin came thru like a human tornado.

Look he was a GROWN ASS MAN living at home with his mama w/two small children of his own. THAT'S STUPID! It ain't about impressing other people, the point is: when you can start making babies out in the street it's time to MAN THE fukk UP and stand up on your own two feet and have your own household.

If you can't understand ^^^^ then I don't know what to tell you. It's crystal damn clear.

Why would he leave? He was in a whole relationship with someone he had a child with who had their own place

Melvin was fukkin with Jody to get under his skin. Honestly, I don't think Jody's moms would have given him such a hard time if he had a meaningful job and was at least working toward some type of goal.
This. It’s sad that it took that nikka damn near being killed for him to wanna be with his family

A lot of posters in here live with their mama so they taking this personal :lolbron:

all that “stay at home at 20” shyt goes out the window when you ain’t in school, ain’t working and got 2 baby mamas. You need to be living with one of those baby mamas with your kid.

but we know Jody didn’t want to do that cuz he wanted to run the streets still and fukk other hoes :mjlol:

if you paid attention to the movie, Jodys mama and Melvin we’re finally progressing in life and trying to build something together (that’s what the garden represented). They were not bad characters hurting Jody like some of the posts in here are trying to say.

by the end of the movie, it looked like Jody was trying to break the cycle sooner than Melvin and his mom did. Jody wasn’t a bad young man so his mom instilled something in him to make him not go 100% to the streets like his homie (Omar gooding character).
Jody's Mom was the most trifling one breh

She never left home herself
She failed to raise jody or his brother properly
The reason her older son is dead because of her faults as a parent
What woman moves a man she just met into the house with her 20 y/o son?
Who let's said man beat up her 20 y/o son?

Ironically, his mom was an older Yvette. A woman who chooses bad men and never takes responsibility for her actions.

Didn’t she kick out his older brother because of another boyfriend, prior to hooking up with Melvin? The older brother ended up dead. That kind of trauma would be enough to change a normal person’s behavior and choices. But nah, not Jody’s mom.

Instead she acted like a 16 year old girl in love for the first time over a nikka she just met. What kind of woman allows her new boyfriend to walk around naked in common areas of the house? Sucking on his tongue in the garden in front of everybody. You wouldn’t even do that shyt in front of a roommate.

What kind of normal mother watches a much bigger man whoop her only son’s ass and then takes the side of the boyfriend?

I mean, Jody was a loser and a man hoe, but he probably got it from his momma. You can only imagine all the bad men she brought around through the years.

Bets believe, Melvin licking his head was not the first time he had been touched by another man all because “momma need to have fun too”.

That’s why he was so hostile to Melvin in the first place.
:ohhh:

Your opinion on this is permanent and I think it's cuz you relate with Jody :francis: Aren't you the 20 something year old cat in Atlanta mad at himself for not pursuing his rap career and procrastinating? If so, you on your Jody shyt so that might be why you bias on this :usure:

Note, I would see nothing wrong with a 20 year old staying home if he was working full time or in school full time and NOT a father already.

You’ve set in your head a 20 year old man with 2 kids should stay at home because he was raised to be a man child. Other posters and myself believe he should be with the family he created despite his dysfunctional childhood.

You keep ignoring the fact he was only at home cuz he wanted to cheat, not be a dad 24/7 and he wanted to run around with his homie. Once he stopped that, he moved in with Yvette.

Nobody saying Jody’s mama was perfect or Jody was the worst. We are going off what was presented in the movie. I think John Singleton even agreed with us based on the ending. I would love to hear the other actors opinions on this :mjlit:

shyt look at the wikipedia explaining the end :heh:

"After reflecting on the death of Rodney and how he put Yvette and his son in danger by not being around consistently, Jody finally moves out of his mom's house and in with Yvette.

Jody has now become a mature man, realizing that Juanita's relationship with Melvin is a stable one and that he has a family of his own that he needs to protect and take care of. Afterward, Jody and Yvette get married and look forward to the birth of their unborn child."

I have a college education, a job and a car fam.
I'm no where near a jody. Yes im 25 and I have issues with my career path because I'm not happy doing corporate but that doesn't mean I relate to jody. I dont even have kids nor do I have multiple women in smashing. Plus I'm upset with myself because I actually have awareness. So i don't see why u attempted to make that parallel to slight me because I have a different view than you.

Now to the jody shyt

Jody is 20. He is a young man who lacked guidance. You expect him to do all those thingd magically when he had no blue print for YOUR idea of what a man should be.

Keep harping on jody not taking responsibility but he was doing the best he could with what he was given. I don't see a 20 y/o as a grown man kids or not. Nor does any othet culture. This mentality of throwing people out to the wolved to fend for a family when he cant fend for himself is backwards

That's a movie and the real story would never end like that.

You think real life jodys get they shyt together because they killed a man?

You have a short sighted idea of what it takes for a person to reach the mental maturity to be a father.

What u talking bout is unrealistic and hinders the growth of our people. Because y'all so quick to call the nikka a bum and don't understand how he even got in the situation he is in. He was failed a long time ago and ur basically expecting him to magically fix himself

Like I said a 20 Y/o is not a man and no other group of people thinks like that.

shyt ur not even a full adult until 30 and married in most cultures

Real life Jody's get their shyt together all the time. And some don't. It's up to that specific person to get their shyt together. Not their mama, not their baby mama. They have to make a personal decision once they become an adult. You keep acting like 20 is 15 or 16, you are weird b :mjlol:

I've traveled, I've seen other cultures b. 20 year olds at home are not being bums with no job, no school. They are being productive unlike Jody.

I think it's telling you think manning up is unrealistic. Such low expectations for Black men you have. And again, you skipped over the cheating and not wanting to see his kids being the reason he was still home. I bet you got homies who ain't shyt and you cosign their behavior. You going too hard for a movie character :mjlol:

And don't tell me I'm short sighted. I'm from Decatur myself, Candler Road and Glenwood, Section 8 housing with a single mother  so I grew up and seen a lot of Jody's growing up on the eastside. I coulda been one myself living in a toxic household. Thank goodness I had no kids and I left at 18 for college. No matter what tho, I would have eventually manned up like Jody did at the end of the film. No excuses breh. With your mentality, Jody woulda got smoked in the film instead of marrying Yvette and changing.

How can you make a personal decision when you lack the understanding and blueprint for life?

You expect him to get his shyt together magically. It's unrealistic. Jody needed a lot more than tough love. Also nikka 20 aint that much older than 15-16 lmao. A 20 year old has only been out of hs for 2 years.

Bro I've been around many cultures too. So idk what that means. Jody was hustling and making money. He also provided for his kids. You confuse a 20 y/o being immature as being a bum. That's a flawed unrealistic way of thinking. A person's mind isn't even developed until 27 ish.

Your idea is of manning up is your idea. My idea is different. Also my homies are stable and got jobs. It seems like your idea of black men is low lol.

Plus fam. I was born in raised in Decatur too. I grew up on candler rd, Glenwood and McAfee. I still live there now til this day. From a single parent home also. So what ur talking about isn't new to me. I know a fukk ton of jodys too. Hell my older brother was a Jody. But I also understand them enough to know it all they fault either fam. Just like you I chose a better path but I was a lot more blessed than brehs in Decatur

Also what mentality? I'm just against his mom kicking him out because she failed to prepare him for life. Her kicking him out before he got that clarity would have got him killed like it did his older brother. What are u talking about fam?
