How did Odell fall from Top 5 to not mentioned at all so quickly?

And you can blame the Giants Owner John Mara. McAdoo tried to bench him he even discussed it with Mara prior to doing so, but when announcing it to the press McAdoo tried to act like Pat Riley without the championship pedigree and came off arrogant. The press and fans went crazy about how Eli was treated and the Giants fired him and made Eli the starter again. Mara should have held his head coach down instead he folded to media pressure.

Its 100% on Mara because McAdoo shouldn't have ever been in the position to make the call. It was very clear Eli was declining before Wackadoo got there, he should have been out long before. Mara's allegiance to mediocrity was unbelievable to me and I always laughed when muhfukkas called the Giants "one of the most well run organizations". Hold on to a clearly declining asset at the game's most important position, you aren't running your organization well lmao...

Mara and overzealous homers/stans probably felt that Eli could eek out more Super Bowl wins (since he did it in the past), despite his declining skills. :francis:

Coming from a Saints fan, I am seeing the same shyt with Brees here in N.O. :snoop:

Most of the hype was from that one catch.

Playing in Cleveland. Even if you're losing in New york, if you got numbers, people will know about you.

Dude had the best 3 year start we've seen since Randy Moss with +1300 Yards in each of his first seasons. 3 successive Pro-Bowl seasons and was arguably the most popular player in the League if not the face.

Fast forward to 3 years later and he hasn't made a Pro-Bowl since and arguably isn't even the best WR on his own team.

It's wild how a player expected to take over from Julio/AB as the best in his position probably isn't even Top 10 in it right now. The likes of Chris Godwin, Michael Thomas, Mike Evans, Diggs, Tyreek etc have since surpassed him.

How did the guy that had next fall off that badly?

He was in nyc and got a lot of spotlight . He really thought he was making the ny giants hot yet he fell off

Eli left about 200 yards & 2 TDs on the field missing Odell vs Ramsey, and that was a regular occurence in 2018 :hhh:

2019 he played through a sports hernia and Baker regressed to an erratic mess with Kitchens as head coach.

If Baker can regain his rookie year form under Stefanski, and Odell can stay healthy I fully expect him to come back with huge numbers.

He was a top five receiver with the corpse of Eli. Give him a top ten quarterback and these pundits would be on his jock again.

Most players fall off once they leave the Giants :manny: especially the wrs.

Odell had a hof qb for his few years and now he has Baker Mayfield:mjlol:

We should've kept Odell. Danny Dimes would've fed him. Both sides got hurt on that trade.

Odell in those early years was as good as anybody in the league, y'all can front if you want. :hubie:

The injuries lack of being on a good team and him not working as hard as he should all played a factor in his decline. He's still young enough to bounce back though and dominate for the next 3 or 4 years to put his name back out there the way it used to be.
