How did the 2008 recession effect you?

I was a lil shorty back then but I felt it. My family went from solid middle class(pops was a union tradesman) to welfare/paycheck to paycheck almost over night. Work dried up in 2009. The union he was in had 3000 workers unemployed out of 5500 if I remember correctly.

My pops did everything right. Had emergency funds but when you got a family of 5 that shyt is gone within months.

My parents still haven’t recovered fully. They would’ve been retired now cooling if the recession ain’t hit.


Just want to hear stories from brehs that was grown in that period.,

I was in my early 20's and shyt was miserable as fukk, gas prices were so high that summer that me and my girl at the time went from almost middle class to check to check, to worse than that. Add that i was working in sales and the people weren't buying, shyt was horrible. We were so miserable from being broke that we ended up splitting up that Christmas. I didn't have enough money to go home that Christmas but my manager gave me gas money...a 20, so I could get home and back. She did that for me and she doesnt even believe in it, I was truly humbled and thankful for that. I had to move into a smaller apartment that January but I bounced back.
