Last few months have been good.... been saving about 1000-2000 a month. Now that we are in the clear from buying the house in April we can get to investing. Meeting with a planner next month. Hoping that will get our cash and investments over 6 figures by 2017. We are in a good position now though. If we keep the spending low we should be able to save like 3K a month. I'm hoping to start a higher paying job next year too.
Update? And more power to you breh.

No #humblebrag but, brehs, just did a re-calibration of the finances and realized we are now:

- 1 month ahead on the mortgage (got it saved up)
- 3 months ahead on each of the 2 cars
- couple of hunit in the paypal for my "play" money

Decided that it was something needed just in case something happens i.e. layoff, get sick, etc.

Living check to check is a reality for a lot of people. Sometimes the rent, bills and necessities are too much to have a substantive amount left over

This.

Rent alone can TKO many peoples monthly income and ALOT of people (in NY and maybe other large cities) can't even pay their rent with 1 pay check. Throw in utilities and groceries and gas (if you have a car) and folks are tapped out. Now I can see why people start dipping into the credit card game, because credit with that absurd interest is better than having zero dollars to work with

I agree if your'e not making much.

But you got people making 70-90k and still broke, so there's a certain point where you're just living beyond your means and it's your own fault. I mean if you're paying a $500 car note and complaining about being broke every month :francis:

If they're making that much then yeah. You need a budgeting class

Negativity (Kayfabe)
Reasons why im broke every two weeks

  1. New job doesnt pay, so my 2nd check goes straight to rent... Leaving me to pay all my other bills w one check along w living expenses x emergency
  2. Cant/wont save... No money's left
  3. Bored ina new city so i kill time spending money... Work too much to really get out their
:sadcam: i can fix it tho

I mean... i guess "grow out of it" wasnt the right words. Some people eventually get to a point when they start making better decisions.

Anyway i just dont think that feeling unsecure about you job security and going out and buying expensive toys should happen in the same time period

Had to revive this thread. It's sad how some brehs dont have their priorities straight
  • 35 y/o breh former coworker of mine
  • Makes about $93K a year
  • Has almost ZERO savings( i mean damn near $0)
  • has never had a 401K or Roth IRA or any form of retirement savings
  • Doesnt pay his student loans but complains about his credit being bad and how "white people invented a system to rate him and keep him down"
  • Living in an expensive ass apartment thats under his moms name
  • Struggling to keep up his child support payments
But he just sent me a text with a pic of a Porsche that he just bough. A 2 year old Porsche but still. :what:
Are Porshe's going put of business and selling all their cars buy 1 get 2 free or something? This is the 3rd person i know who got one this year. :lupe:
Edit: oh this is the same breh that texted me the other day saying he was worried he might get laid off at work but thank God theyjust moved him to a different dept

ROFL!!
I work with a raggedy trick like this.
Chick goes broke going to carnival multiple times a year, works 2 jobs, can't afford to register her old lexus in-state because the insurance is too high here, lives from check to check, you know the routine...
:comeon:
Yet she constantly bills herself to others as being desirable and the shyt and that all men should want her.
Funny thing is...no quality men do.
She's constantly around the office complaining about the 2c men that she's met and all the games they play. She's even travelled to other countries trying to follow up with these worthless bums and they play her when she gets there.
You wouldn't believe the sob stories this chick tells around the office...it's pathetic.
But you won't ever hear her say that the problem might be her...because...she's perfect...right!?

Thursday nights before payday me and my wife be in bed rubbing our hands together like birdman..feels good to take out $3-400 walking around cash just because. I feel bad sometimes though because I have cousins that make less than $250 every two weeks from burger king...like damn, my petty cash be more than some people's Checks, that thought forces me to be humble.

My wife and I are the same. We earned it and DAMN it feels good.
And I don't sweat the fact that most of my family can't do that...they had their choices.
My siblings and cousins (except for one in those categories) are all on the "Let the family take care of me" bullshyt.
I won't go to family reunions anymore because I can't deal with the haterade one second longer.
But whatev...life is grand.
