It's not free though, they taking that shyt out of your check.

He gets a housing allowance.

It isn't part of his check.

His check is 1600 and his allowance is 1600.

He has a big family so he uses the full 1600 but if he had a small apartment off of the base he would be able to keep the rest of that 1600.

But he's a SGT stationed in a very high COL area so maybe that's why he makes much more.

You shouldn’t be joining the armed services thinking you gone be rich. It’s the wrong mindset for the activity you’ll be engaged in.

When you first join, your not making that much. Your low ranked. As a single airman you will probably be staying in the dorms and bringing home about 800-900 every two weeks . However if you live off base they give you an extra 1000- 1500 a month depending on where you live and if you have dependents.

If you deploy however , you make a good amount of money (no tax and extra entitlements) .

No, they don't. That's all his. I was a Payroll Clerk for the USMC.

The military is paying his bills in-full.

ALL of them.
When I was staying in the dorms they just straight took my housing allowance out of my check, it must be different for on house base.

My bad , it must be different from staying in the dorms than on base housing. Gotcha

Don’t you only make $17 an hour(you said that in a thread you made)? That’s not very much money at all, so is the military pay really going to be a huge paycut from what your getting now?

You’ve created other threads about your salary and about not liking your job. I don’t think your happy with your situation breh. Your threads paint a picture of that.

If you think you’ll be happier in the military maybe you should just go for it. Idk a lot of you brehs be so confused and in need of guidance about your lives—I feel like this isn’t the place to seek wisdom about that kind of decision. Good luck though.

Yeah

My friend makes 1600 every 2 weeks.

And he gets a housing allowance of 1500 every 2 weeks too. All utilities included cause he's on base.
It sounds like he gets BAH (basic allowance for housing). That means he lives off-base. If he lived on base, he'd either be in the barracks or if he's married he'd have his own apartment/house. But he won't be getting that guap tho.

Most enlisted military members I know are also terrible with money. I remember hearing people in the dorms complain about being broke when I had over $20k in the bank as a 19 year-old E3. You can literally save every penny you make. Everything you need is provided for you. Just dont go out and buy some super fancy car until you are a E6 and up or Commission as an officer.

If I were in your shoes id finish those last two years of school and commission as an officer. The pay is much better and the prospects for jobs on the outside is much better.

He lives on base in a four-bedroom house.

He's married and he gets a check for housing
