They're not out of the playoffs yet but even if they win vs the Hornets tomorrow which is no lock, the Pistons will take care of them in short order.

As I see it, they've got a host of issues:

- the coach(nuff said)
- Paolo(nuff said)
- Bane - good player, probably their best overall but they gave up a king's ransom in assets to get him
- Franz - he can't shoot but the team plays well when he's on the court. Can't stay healthy.
- Suggs - see above.
- Suggs and Paolo are owed 400 million dollars over the next 5 years
- Metrics show that Franz and Paolo don't really play well together
- The GM seems to think the roster is more talented than it is

They're going to fire Mosley that's for certain. I don't know if they want to make changes on the roster yet and see if a coaching/scheme change fixes their ills but I'm not optimistic. How would you fix this mess? They won 45 games with Franz missing 3 months of the season so there is a bit of talent here but something's fundamentally broken.

Obtain a Cheap vet PG or backup type (mike Conley type)

Let the dudes grow another year and see what you get from the core
(Prove it year for Banchero as being THE guy or Just another guy)

The Magic was the team I thought that shoulda been looking at DG or Trae Young.

They just don't have enough shooting at their lead guard spot to make up for Paulo and Franz's brick laying from the long ball. I think Paulo and Franz can work, but you need better shooting around them.

Maybe see if they can get something together for Booker.

Bush Mosely for a more offensive minded coach. Then lock Paula's ass in the training facility until October until he has a reliable middy and 3 point shot. They're not THAT far off, their bench is solid, they just need more shooting.

Franz & Paula don't fit but they have no choice but to try to make it work for the foreseeable future.

I don't think that's what he needs to be doing. He needs to get in his head that he's a legit 6'9" 240 lb guy and get to the rim. He's big but he plays so small.

pie in the sky: see if you get Giannis

without question: change the coach. I'm not a Thibs guy but he might weed out the dead weight.

Getting Bane was them acknowledging there's a major problem with their shooting that they constantly failed to fix-- not through lack of effort, but they acquired too many guys who they just assumed the shooting would come and it hasn't (Black over Cason Wallace to me is one of their bigger mistakes and this is a team that thought Jett Howard was a lottery pick).

I could see a scenario where Suggs gets moved for a Julius Randle type but only if there's a bigger plan to move Banchero.

Pie in the sky:

Giannis
Randle
Wagner
Bane
Black

with no bench to speak of, but that's where the GM gotta work on the margins

My guess is they're just gonna run it back with a new coach and if nothing still changes then they'll blow up the roster.

Mosley is done. Part of their offensive issues can be attributed to personnel, another is his sets are just lacking

After all the picks they gave up to get Bane and all the money they tied up in extending Paolo/Franz/Suggs, there’s no excuse for them to not be aggressive in trying to improve.

He's soft though, thats not his game. I call him Paula bc hes always complaining when he doesn't get calls, which to be fair he does get fouled a lot, but the refs don't call it unless hes yelling "heyyyyyyyy!" and flailing his arms out. His handle isn't good enough to get pass his defender either, hes not as fast as young LeBron to blow by his defender with his limited handles. He should be more like Melo, 2-3 dribbles and pop it. It's hard to win in today's NBA if your best player can't shoot.

Facts.

I've heard the Brown/Tatum comparison in this regard and it's not the same. Brown & Tatum are legit threats anywhere on the court. They play off each other really well. It's not "it's your turn to cook", which is what many initially thought.

I just don't like the Franz/Banchero duo

Yeah and at least Brown & Tatum can shoot. Franz & Paula are both soft and can't shoot, how is that supposed to work? :dead:

And Tatum actually worked on his jumpshot and became a more consistent shooter along with his playmaking abilities. Paula's playmaking has gotten better but his shooting has regressed to the point that social media is saying hes scared to shoot and calling him Ben Simmons

Complete non-starter, Ishbia loves Booker and would never trade him

I get what the Magic were trying to do, have all these big guys in the front court teamed with a bigger backcourt(Wagner/Wendell/Paolo all 6'10"+, Black is 6'7", Suggs and Bane are 6'5") but it's just very clunky and they don't have a natural ballhandler amongst them.

It's high risk, but they might have to bite the bullet and trade for Ja

they've been obsessed with height since Hammond was there. Height was probably their dealbreaker for Black over Wallace. Meanwhile Wallace has become the better shooter AND defender.
