I guess the question here is, what's the mission of the Talented Tenth?

To follow on, how many members of the talented tenth agree with the mission?

And of those that agree, how many are in a position to effect the mission?

I've personally thought that a Henry Ford/Michael Dell figure was needed, in fact dozens of industrialists.
The only way to bring the Black mass up - was to operate like a global multi-national.

As I've grown up, I've made my few little dollars doing white collar work - but the cats that were really getting it - they doing land deals and government contracting. On the one hand, hiring some black folks to renovate a house is cool, and putting on some lawyers and accountants to do the govt deals is nice - but it's not Bezos nice - where you got states giving all types of benefits and deals to bring your business...
From what you saying lowkey that’s why I’ve been pondering on the fact that black American industrialists wherever they may be need to somehow get in on africa

And this is also why black folks need to go even harder on higher education, I know it’s a joke to some and they don’t see the vision but we need them skilled workers, that’s how you gain power as a small group

Above the fray.
Reagonomics.

This country is getting worse and worse for poor and Middle class people who are trying to do it on their own.

There is no safety net in America so it can keep getting worse until someone hits rock bottom, but if you can find a good opportunity to sacrifice independence in order to work together a great amount of wealth can be made. That’s how Mexicans and other groups of people do it: multiple families to a single home, pay it off and keep it moving.

Most Americans are sometimes too independent and lose the fact there’s an insane amount of strength in numbers. You got to find a group of trustworthy people (family ideally) and build from there. Problem is a lot of people don’t want to share a house because they want independence and to be a boss or they run into a grifter /conman that wipes them out. That’s why family got to be tight and is safer. Families living with each other is actually insanely popular in other cultures and saves a lot of money.
I grew up with kids who were in the last wave of The Great Migration, and some of their families did it.
More out of necessity than anything, similar to the circumstances for immigrants.

A generation + up North, or a generation + raised in America and people don't want to live on top of each other when they grow up and start working.

Yeah, but for the fact that the elites in most of 3rd world, Africa included, get mentally captured.
They want Benz, BMW, and Ferrari
Their wives want Chanel and Gucci
Their children are sent to European schools
Foreigners - Chinese, Euro, American, Arab - cozy up to them and give them money for "defense against terrorists", "green wall of Africa", "development"

^and when the population sees this, the leader of the military stages a coup. And the cycle repeats itself.

It's why there's so much excitement for Ibrahim, imo.

There's a whole lot of political science here, along with economics, sociology, history, and philosophy - but it's those less lucrative fields that do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of explaining why Black people the world over can't seem to take advantage of our own damn resources - be they natural (like oil and gas, or beautiful scenery) or intellectual (like music0

And this is also why black folks need to go even harder on higher education, I know it’s a joke to some and they don’t see the vision but we need them skilled workers, that’s how you gain power as a small group

You could make that argument, but when's the last time you called Patel the Plumber or Nguyen the Electrician?

The Asians have smaller #'s than ours, but decided to double down on the education to high income pipeline.

If we're being frank, Corporate America does not like the Indians (Indian Americans and Indians from India), yet they lie and cheat bully their way into Medicine, Science and Tech. I've been in classes with these dummies. I used to tutor Korean cats in Calculus 2 and 3 back in my university days.

They then make the big dollars and go live with white people (and make white people leave because the schools are TOO competitive for white kids)

In any event, the Black Economic Revolution starts small.

Unfortunately I think abuse and trauma play a huge role in weakening of family households

I consider trades as higher education too but I see what you saying

My thing is if we going to really employ each other, have a global presence, really stand tall as a community we need them engineering firms, we need them law firms, we need them scientists for agriculture and medicine etc., we need historians mathematicians linguistics etc. to teach our black children

I know it’s looking far ahead but that’s the ultimate goal in self sufficiency, and with these skills we can also “liberate” others

Really is hella professions out there and they all are connected one way or another so I think people should aim as high as possible

I dont think separation is necessarily a weakening of family households. Plenty of our families are from rural backgrounds, migrants and immigrants alike.
Adjusting to urban metro centers, where there is less space and more people .

In ideal situation, family eventually purchases a multi-family or a compound. So that family is close, but not on top of each other.

The extended family is one of the greatest support networks Black people have, and it has to be adjusted to where we live in the modern era.
