firstly he was a massive biter, plagiarist
He plagiarized lyrics, rocafella logo symbols, and even literature from his book.
He's a grand plagiarist of the highest degree, but he gets a pass when he should be giving a written apology!

Ok but that aside, he's hurt hip hop so much by putting many a great number of artists on the shelves.

Ok that aside as well, dude is no longer a hip hop artist, he's just a marketer now.
His talent was washed away, it's ok to continue liking his way older material, that's fine.

But how does he still have fans today being apologists for his new stuff?

Him being washed up is an opinion held by people who no longer support or buy his albums. Much of the opinion of him being washed up is unfounded though. I constantly see comments that MCHG was wack lyrically. That's a huge exaggeration. Average for Jay Z standards? Yes, but straight up wack is a stretch. I'd even say he sounds uninspired, but he still drops gems, just not consistently.

People who are still fans still find him listenable enough to buy the music even when it's legitimately free.
