"Work It Out" was a flop of epic proportions:

Beyonc’s ‘Work It Out’: Looking Back at the Solo Smash That Wasn’t – Billboard

How do you NOT chart with a single produced by THE NEPTUNES in 2002?

Kanye's version of "Hip Hop" isn't the one that is a hit though.
Fair enough, but say what you want, Beyonce was always the lead during Destiny's Child era. No one was checking for Kelly and Michelle like that.:yeshrug:Also, if you watch the Kanye doc, he was very well known in Chi and hip-hop prior to Izzo and had hits in the bag that labels weren't tryna hear at the time. College Dropout was being worked on well before Izzo.

Not completely off topic but would y’all consider Push a child of Jay’s? Mainly RD Jay.

Stepchild, because Clipse didn't get on with a Jay co-sign. :ehh:

His 'kids' to me will always be the likes of Ye, Cole and Drake. The fact that they've taken shots/ beefed with each other reminds me a lot of the Jay/Cam/Mase dynamic because they all had a connection with BIG.

2 former drug dealers from the same part of the country, came up in similar eras, both respect the rap game. If you don’t see why I don’t know what to tell you.

Breh, in 2002, Columbia made Kelly's solo debut priority over Beyonce. Beyonce was the last member of the group to drop a solo. Main reason being, Nelly's "Dilemma" featuring Kelly Rowland was a MONSTER smash. Beyonce didn't have that until she too was featured on a rap song ("Bonnie & Clyde"). Kelly's "Stole" and "Can't Nobody" were far more successful than Beyonce's solo records.

Being well known in the Chi =/= having hits especially hits that you're admittedly saying labels weren't trying to hear. Of course College Dropout was being worked on, but NOBODY was giving Kanye a shot. The first major rap feature Kanye had was on a Jay album.

King push is not a superstar rapper how come he always has jay feature while other rapper are struggling to get it:francis:

You're forgetting about Rick Ross...

Rozay had a Jay verse on every album up until Hood Billionaire.

Jay ain't Bun B lol. He ain't gonna give a verse to anyone. Dude isn't a businessman, he's a Business Man.

He isn't dumb enough to contribute a verse to someone who is garbage.

Damn dawg...

Push went solo around the time when rap became the WWF and when Malice found God.

Dude should have put out some solo joints during the 1999 to 2003 era. It would have raised his value like when Prodigy put out a solo album not too long after Murda Muzik came out.

Probably doesnt hurt that nikkas close to/who Hov respects really fukk with Push. Clark Kent has repeatedly sang Push’s praises (dj his wedding too) and Emory fukks with Push too. Plus i always thought they had a Marlo x Avon/Stringer dynamic because Push never shyed away from sending “gentleman” darts at Hov like Hov did on “Thank You”

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Breh stop. He worked with most of these artists before they were ever hot.

Who was checking for Ja Rule prior to "Can I Get A...". ? Yeah, he had some features, but that wad by far his biggest look up to that point. He was also in a supergroup with Jay and X.

Name one solo hit from Beyonce before "Bonnie And Clyde".

Name one hit with Kanye's Name on it before he started working with Jay.

Pharrell wasn't even a household name when Jay started working with The Neptunes. They were just getting hot at that time.

Linkin Park? They were trying to crossover into Hip Hop.

Justin Timberlake is the only valid one and even that's a reach because Jay turned down being featured on "My Love".
U right about everything but the Neptunes shyt. Them nikkas had a bunch of hit records before Give It To Me.

Jay has his favorites. He genuinely fukks with Ross, Push, Drake, Ye, Face, Jay-E so I feel like if any of them nikkas call he's likely to make the effort.
Drake is one of the most popular rappers out, I don't think Jay genuinely fukks with Drake and only does features with him cause he's one of the hottest rappers. Dude just riding the Drake gravy train. Same probably applies to Ye too. I agree with the other rappers you mention since they aren't as popular as Drake is.

I still shocked that Jay did a whole album with Jay Elect knowing that it might flop sales wise.

Not saying they didn't, but Pharrell wasn't a household name at that point. When "Give It To Me" dropped, it was a part of the hot streak they were starting to have. This was after "Shake It Fast", but before "Danger" and "Southern Hispitality". Before 2000, they had "Superthug", "Got Your Money" and "Lookin At Me".

fukkin with Push allows him to get in his natural bag as a rapoer/writer. So I can see why he will jump at any opportunity to be on a Push song.

That drug brag Coke rap is Jay at his best and what he built his music on

And Push is his venue to get that off
