3.5, if the bootleg dropped though it would be 4+ IMO... As said above 4-5 absolute GEMS on there and a few duds a well a few mediocre tracks. The original album was straight fire but too much got removed to hit classic status.

Great album except for a couple trash songs and alot of the sorry ass hooksโฆ but it has some of nas best songs on there
The main problem with I Am, was the fact that it's dated as hell even for a Nas album. You had those "digital thug" ass beats, the corny stuttering flow, a few random tracks (Dr Knockboot), and quite frankly the whole album just felt like it was cut off from the original direction. Which we all later found out (mainly this marsupial) that the album was supposed to be a double disc.
I wonder if Nas was able to drop the original album around the time. Would it still be considered meh? Or it would have been a instant classic?

overall I'd say it's right under a 4... High highs and has some low lows.. I don't revisit this album as much as I thought I would...
