Obama himself said that Nixon was more liberal than he was, and Obama was more liberal than Clinton or Biden. So what does that make the Dems in the last 30 years?
So because Obama said that makes it true?

From no objective measure is Nixon "more liberal" than Obama. That's just ridiculous.

Welp.....He is no longer even pretending not to be running interference for MAGA.

The amount of followers he had is :mindblown:

And didn't Trump sign the law that made it criminal to mishandle documents?

Dore is disgusting. How can anyone compare Bill Maher to this shyt

Legislation they supported/helped to pass through Congress.
I feel you, but I think we need more to show that.

I just know that Nixon created the EPA, advocated for universal health care, and almost got a version of UBI.

On a lot of major ticket items, Nixon was definitely to the left of every president in a while. Even looking at that chart, how was Obama more progressive than FDR? Jimmy Carter ushered in Neoliberal policies, yet he our most liberal president since WW2?

It just looks dubious until I see what the metrics were.

So far as I can tell that graph is meaningless - it merely tells you how partisan the president's support was, but does nothing to tell you how conservative/liberal their policies were. If the Democrats as a block move significantly in either direction (as they did in the 1990s) the chart doesn't show it because they're just measuring him against the positions of the rest of the party.

Nixon signed off on:

Creating the EPA

Creating SSI

Founding OSHA

Instituting the Clean Water Act

Instituting the Endangered Species Act

First president to enact Affirmative Action

First president to open relations with China

Unilaterally instituted wage and price controls

In what way did Obama match that record of liberal reforms?

To be fair, Obama did not say Nixon was more liberal than him overall. He said, "in a lot of ways," then brought up his creation of the EPA and regulation as examples.
That is very true.

But Obama was more in line with an 80s/90s moderate republican than someone like FDR.

Nixon signed off on those things but on many of them he was pushed to sign them by Congressional Democrats, environmental activists and so on. Nixon was a conservative, he wasn't a Reaganite but he was NOT a liberal by any means. In his own WH tape recordings, he states that very clearly. A "liberal Republican" back then was someone like Nelson Rockefeller, Jacob Javits, Prescott Bush (Bush 41's father), Raymond P. Shafer, Hugh Scott, Charles H. Percy, Mark Hatfield, Margaret Chase Smith, Edward Brooke, Lowell Weicker, etc.

Also, if you're counting Nixon's visit to China as a "liberal" accomplishment then does the Cuban Thaw and Obama's visit to Cuba count as a "liberal" accomplishment too?

Furthermore, Nixon's reason for signing some of those "liberal" policies was a political strategy not because he genuinely believed them. Nixon was a racist, do you think that he genuinely believed in "affirmative action"?
