Cuz lets keep it honest, dbz is a simple story with simple characters but it still gets traction.

People always bring this up but plenty of great stories keep it simple. Complicated doesn't always mean great or that there's actual depth. Look at the Matrix sequels. The Dragon Ball franchise could give you easy stories while adding good character development, great fights, and easing into concepts like aliens, androids, and all kinds of weird shyt now.

Yeah when I was kid my only choices for animated action shows were Transformers/Beast wars, Ninja Turtles, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men. They were cool, especially Batman...but when I saw DBZ it was WRAP.

Then I saw the uncensored version online and I became a fan for LIFE.

DB being a simple minded martial art story is partially why its so popular. Its not filled with polarziing themes, political elements, or concepts etc. Its just a fighting show about guys saving the world. With new powerful aliens thown at them
