That's insane to me breh. I was born in 1980, I'm guessing I got at least 10 years on you?
As for the Gucci/Jeezy beef, I remember that being a very minor story in what was it? 2005?
I couldn't even tell you when the Truth dropped, I always thought Gucci and Jeezy were wack and didn't pay much attention to them. I heard it a year or two ago when someone posted it here.

I'll give Biggie "Long Kiss Goodnight" as a known diss song as it was kind of understandable that it was about 'Pac.
But with "Kick In The Door", I didn't know it was about Nas until years later, I always thought it was about 'Pac.

See, thats the problem; it leaves it up to the person's interpretation, its too ambiguous.

No one can confuse Kurupt dissing DMX, Nas, etc on "Calling Out Names" (named EXACTLY as a rapper should do if there is beef).

That's a fundamental difference between "Drop A Gem..." and "Hit 'Em Up", "No Vaseline", "Dollaz & Sense", etc; the rapper getting dissed HAS to come back with something just as vicious or they lose.

And 'Pac rode on them HARD and they didn't have the heart to say his name.
I see what your saying but I disagree. IMO there is nothing subliminal about Drop A Gem on Em and it was clear they were talking about pac. I have no problem with not saying names as long as it is clear who they talking about

You're wrong.

Mobb Deep was one of the best known groups out of NY at the time....dissing (arguably) the biggest rapper in the world at the height of his popularity....after getting called out on "Hit Em Up", one of the biggest diss records in history.

"Drop A Gem On Em" was talked about in every major hip-hop publication. It wasn't some big ass mystery who it was about.

"The Truth" wasn't even an official single. It's a random song he just threw out. Unless you were heavy into rap you'd have no idea it even existed.

What year did you get into rap? You keep applying this "it's 2015, I just heard the song, no idea who it's about" mind state to 1996. Next you'll claim nobody knew "Long Kiss Goodnight" was directed at Pac because he didn't say his name.

Fred.

Subliminal diss track are always better then direct ones to me

Prodigy never did ballet as far as I know. The photograph was him in a Michael Jackson outfit as a kid.

There was this though...

Yes....the roundabout'ness of it....as a man...cowardly

That's because you do not know the difference between talking slick TO someone versus talking ABOUT someone. ..someone, forgot who, even mentioned this on the radio once when they were asked why they didn't mention names. ..they were like "we men we talk straight to the dude through the radio. .he know we taking to him. ..we don't talk about him. ..that's some hoe sh!t"...paraphrasing but that was the main point

Anyway you wanna rationalize, buddy.

Truth of the matter, we're on the net having circular arguments about 2nd-3rd tier diss record.

Y'all have fun in here....Laterz:cape:

I still can't believe @DoobieJRoach thinks that the Gucci/Jeezy beef is more well known then the Pac backstory discussed on Drop A Gem On Em :mindblown:

lol how is it cowardly when the ONLY person that really mattered would know exactly who it was about?

That's what I try to tell these guys but they refuse to get it. These so called "subliminals" weren't so subliminal because the intended target knew it was about them. A lot of times the people listening to these songs knew who the target was back then. It's only now you have these young internet revisionists not knowing their hip hp history putting their spin on things they don't understand or like.
