he got all of the qualities that make a great emcee with his talent and albums yet he stays gettin' overlooked these days. now that i think about it, he maybe the most underrated emcee of all time :patrice:

i ain't never heard this brother spit a wack verse, write a wack song or release a wack album but i hardly ever hear someone mention him in their top 10 favorite emcees of all time. why is that? :why:

(1) No universal bangers...I am talking about songs that people outside his core fan base have heard of...

(2) What do his album sales numbers look like...?

(3) Do other rappers even mention him...? If other rappers don't mention him then why should the average fan give a fcuk...All Top GOAT status candidates are mentioned by their peers, and their peers have made attempts to collaborate with them...

universal bangers count but one can be influential without them and still get that top 10 co sign. kool g rap ain't got no universal bangers yet he's often considered a top 10 emcee and rightfully so

don't know what masta ace albums sales look like but everythin' that sells ain't great. emcees like rakim, kool g rap, and scarface are 3 some of the most influential emcees of all time yet they don't do jay z numbers. so sometimes the influence isn't always shown in numbers

as for other rappers mentionin' him, sure they do. everybody knows masta ace was a huge influence eminem. eminem recognized him at the 2001 grammy awards

As great as Ace is, it's really just because he spent years tryna put his crew on that he should have spent establishing himself. That's basically it. By the time he came back it was too late.

we debating why he isn't mentioned with the GOATs. if those were solo albums instead of group albums his standing would be stronger. especially since after that he went ghost until 2001. his talent is without question, but he just didn't have an active solo career for enough of his career

I never thought of those as group albums. The INC was a sound that featured Ace prominently up front. Kendrick Lamar has more features than an INC album.

The reason he isn't a GOAT is because he simply isn't a GOAT. He is terrific though. Slaughterhouse stands up next to any album from 1993 easily. It's actually better than Souls Of Mischief's album.
