To me Ace is the definition of an average rapper. Makes good music and not somebody I actively skip over but he's also never blown me away either. Even with EMC I always felt that he's usually getting outshined on.

No. It wasn't wack. But he did kinda gain that white, doofus trustafarian crowd that swore it was some next level shyt when it was really kinda light given Ace and his rich history.
I like Ace, but he's not near my top 10. Dope though, but there's just so many great MC's the competition is tough.
He should definitely get more mentions as a great MC and just more love in general for how consistent his catalog is overall, especially with how many concept/story albums fall flat while he never lets the concept override the music. Top ten's tough to crack into, but for sure one of my favorite artists in hip-hop.
Masta Ace and also Chubb Rock are two artists I feel are top ten that people just forget about for some reason

After long hot summer Masta Ace last few projects have been lackluster. Up until then he's had a near perfect hiphop catalog. He's old school now I mean REALLY old schol. He's right behind big daddy kane rakim, and kool g rap skill and concept wise. Masta Ace is top 25 of all time he's immortalized in that and he is one of hiphop's best concept writers ever.
