Not to defend the signings he made, but how many years can you keep rolling over your payroll?

Until they find a deal better then giving Villy and Gordon 8 mill a year each for what 4-5 years?

Presti took Kurt Thomas with picks. Jazz just did it with Biedrins. Thunder are run great. Jazz will be in good shape after this draft.

and in the process, Utah decided to bottom out completely and redistribute their money to the guys they already had (all while letting Jefferson and Millsap go for nothing and that decision got ripped here)

That Darko pick was not his pick, he was forced to use money on Charlie V and Gordon (there is a minimum cap and the Pistons had money to spend, he overpaid but it had to be spent), I don't know where this TERRIBLE stuff comes from, he's made bad moves like any GM but this team is vastly better than they were two years ago, it's a new team, takes time to come together. I would at least give him this year and next year
:dahell:

are YOU Joe Dumars, breh?

:comeon:

Bruh :camby:with these lame excuses.

Darko wasn't his pick:aicmon:

He had to spend money so he had to give that bum Charlie v 35 mill and a short sg 50 mill even th ough they already had 2 sg. :rudy:

Dumas shoulda been fired when gores took over, then he for sure shoulda been gone after that debacle last year.

Dumars is the man he brought winning basketball back to the city and a title 10 years ago. But it's time to go.

exactly, the pistons could have reached the salary minimum without overpaying gordon/villanueva.

and that darko pick was BRUTAL. I could see skipping out on melo if they didn't want a SF, but if they wanted a PF, bosh was still available at #2 in that same draft.

Jennings was a huge mistake should of kept Jose

Now there the worst shooting team in the NBA those rebounding stats are gonna be big thou lol

Prove that the Pistons are the worst shooting team! Jose left on his own accord, and actually the win% dropped when he became a Piston.

Wasn't me who said it but right now they are last in 3point % and tied for last in ft%. Not a great shooting team with stats like that.

As I said earlier in the thread, he overpaid for Ben and Charlie V, but again that free agency year was bad and this is not a free agency destination. I don't know what Pistons fans are looking for, he did what he was suppose to do in the past few drafts, he got rid of Bradon Knight (which a lot of fans were hoping for) and brought in a better player, cause looking at Knights numbers and play, he looks waaay worse (year he's been injured but its not looking too good). Pistons fans hate to admit it but no one wants to come to Detroit unless they overpay, period.

Yep, no one thought Josh Smith was worth more than 10-11 mill a year, Pistons paid about 14 mill for him. Joe did a good job on the Jennings deal, 8 mill a year is a pretty good deal for them, Milwaukee offered 10 a year for 4.

That's too much for Jennings, he's a backup in my opinion

Hawks didn't even offer Josh a contract this summer...

http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/former-hawk-smith-looks-forward-to-return/nbxK9/

Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has previously said the team did not make Josh Smith a contract offer once he became an unrestricted free agent this summer. Smith gave some more detail into the Hawks’ lack of interest this summer in a radio interview with 92.9 FM Monday.

“No, there wasn’t,” Smith said when asked if there was a contract offer. “During free agency, during that period, there were a lot of guys out in L.A. that were meeting with various teams. I was one of those guys. That’s where I work out in the summertime as well. The only time I saw the Hawks during free agency was when they came to one of my workouts just to say hello. I think they were meeting with Dwight Howard that day. They never came in or sat down with me during the free agency period to offer me anything.”

Detroit was essential bidding amongst themselves for Josh's services. He was never a real player in a possible Houston-ATL trade that would have sent Asik to ATL because Houston wasn't paying him [Josh] nowhere near what Detroit paid him, and essentially, Houston just didn't want him. Josh was definitely overpaid by Detroit.

:ohhh: I didn't know that. I thought there were at least 2-3 other teams in the mix per reports.
