The 23-17 loss to the chargers in 09, & the 17-16 loss to the jets in 2011 look to me like the defense did their part. Especially considering that the colts were averaging 30+ points per game in the regular season and couldnt put up points against lesser teams

"San Diego's winning drive was aided by two defensive holding calls, the second against Tim Jennings on third-and-8. On the next play, Colts linebacker Clint Session was whistled for grabbing Sproles' facemask. Sproles scored on the next play, shedding a defender at the 5-yard line."

This is why you have to had actually watched those games and not just look at the box score. As someone who lived through both of those games, the special teams played horribly in both and gave up several points and field possession all game long. Everyone could have played better but Peyton didn't play bad in any of those games you just listed, and he wasn't the reason the Colts lost either

Watched them both live, Peyton was frustrated all game long in both of those and not playing like how he normally would. He was tense and the offense wasnt in sync in either game.

Of course he didn't play "as he normally would", it was the playoffs, both the Jets & The Chargers had one of the best defenses in the league each of those years. My point is he had reasonable/above average games each time and didn't "choke" either of them away like you tried to imply in your original post I quoted. There is a huge difference

and for the 14-2 records, he always had undersized fast line backers and a quick pass rush d-line (mathis and freeney), thats a perfect regular season recipe but when it comes to the playoffs you need a power d line and big down and diry linebackers ie giants, pats, bucs, raven...peyton has never had those

Nah. Those defenses were built to play with a lead.....The did their part, well as I might add. The O just couldn't put it together in most of the playoff runs

2.... I can't remember the years but the year where Adam Viniteri kick the winning FG and the year that Indy went to like week 13 without a loss and was favorite to win it all only to get blown out in the AFC title game. He played well enough to win those games but his D was always s**t. The SB vs the Saints is the only one I would say that Peyton blew.... With a good D, he should have had a strong 5 SB wins and 1 blown SB loss .

His D was always solid...The GM never spent money on the D and brought Dungy in to build a solid D for the low, and he did exactly that...

Last year and in '05 were real tough break losses. Obviously Moore fukked up against the Ravens, but Fox coached that game like Peyton was Tebow and didn't let him win that game. Marty would have been proud at that conservative gameplan.

Harper should have taken Bettis' fumble to the house in that game against the Steelers. Beyond that, Peyton took them into FG range and that liquored up kicker Vanderjagt gagged on another clutch FG. He missed a few of those during their playoff games.

like I said, they were both playoff teams and had one of the best defenses in the league each year. Any team in the playoffs can get hot enough to win the championship, if that hasn't been proven clearly the last few years, every team is good.

Peyton Stats

09 Chargers Playoffs: Passing: - 310 YDS, 1 TD No INTS

11 Jets Playoffs: 225 YDS, 1 TD No INTS

535 yards, 2 TD's, no interceptions. What a choke:heh: your argument is finished now
