I told my cousin to either lease a Maxima or buy one that's a year old with low miles and do a 100k wraparound warranty.

I don't think the cheaper cars have higher profit margins than the more expensive ones. These cheaper cars exist to get more people into the brand so they will cop a more expensive car later.

The lower end vehicles most people lease. It's a lot easier to make a profit on leased vehicles per unit in volume sales. Once you pass the 5 series, E class relative in price tag the volume goes down even if you tend to make more per vehicle.

Cutting costs,lazy design work,strategic failures and complacency watered down the once ironclad image of MB. The best builds are mostly pre 1995. With the W123/124 as bulletproof examples of German car engineering. I had a chance to buy a well maintained 500SEC in 2001 for cheap,still pissed I didn't pick it up,that car is a bonafide classic.
