Currently make 150,000 per year as a DevOps engineer for a artificial intelligence start up in nyc (I'm also a crossfit coach). I'm happy but I'm thinking about starting up my own thing. Most of the business people that I admire are entrepreneurs.

College is a L for majority of people.

Unrealistic? You are living off 40k..which is 60k less than 100k...You are saying you wouldn't be able to pay off 55k in 1.5 years if you made 100k?? (also, 55k is a high number for student loans, it doesn't have to cost that much to get a college degree)

People who are financially responsible do it all the time. I paid my 26k in loans off in less than 2 years making 80-90k/year. I was far from financially responsible at the time, if I were...I would have paid it off sooner.

I want to kindly disagree, it's all about planning imo. But at the same time everyone's circumstances are different.

A few years ago I was making 18 g's a year and had some debt, I made some changes in my life and things changed and I paid off that debt with the job I have now.

Back on SOHH we used to have open discourse about money, careers, education. Here it’s like nobody wants to hear about people that do well.
