Why not just pay the minimum $20 a month?
Give me your reasoning?

My reason is all the other money being spent per month paying it off could be spent investing :blessed:

I had close to 30K

My Minimum Payment for all the loans was $322 per month. If Make those payments for 10 years guess what I'm paying them 42K.

I'm not paying them an extra 12K, fukk that I already paid $950 in interest this year & thats with me paying a good chunk of my loans off.

The Words Paid in Full on your Loan Statement :blessed:

6-7 years from now, I don't want to have any debt unless it's a Mortgage.

I just felt like, if they scamming me by making me pay large sums of money to be educated, then i can scam them by paying them back in 50 years :yeshrug:

I'll be making more money in 5 years, I can invest monies made from not paying them now, and be able to easily pay back later, its more manageable, not struggling to make payments, etc..

those are some things to consider, its not stupid

Not even mad about it, to be honest. Without them I wouldn't have been able to go to law school, and as a result, now have my own firm which I'm doing well with. The loans made that possible. I'll gladly pay that $1,000 every month knowing that they're also the reason I can afford to make such payment comfortably. Taking out loans and them not benefitting you though? Pouring jelly on yourself.

I just think it's a mistake to assume what will happen in five years. And as I said, five years of investing can be great, average, or terrible. Your number one investment will always be you.

If I had a guaranteed 100k+ job comin out then of course that wouldn't be my strategy, but im lookin to start my own business so thats why my strategy for the first 5-10 years may be to pay the minimum...but you can always switch if your income increases....

just preparing for the worst, thats all :yeshrug:

Student loan debt is one thing I like to get rid of quickly. It stays with you, so you may as well keep putting that money down and get rid of it quickly.

I also hate letting interest accrue
