It depends which NYC accent you're talking about
The old Paulie Walnuts cac one is dead, but there's still a black one that seems to change every 20 years or so. But it seems to be shared with New Jersey + New England

I'll be honest %90 of white people in Houston city limits ain't of "southern" stock at all. They from post-1965 northern and/or european migrant stock.

White ATLiens are more southern than white Houstonians.

Black Houstonians are more southern than black ATLiens, tho. Yep, I'm standing on that.

GA vs TX is a completely different story before anyone tries to go there.

Fun fact: Houston(and Austin for that matter) had a higher proportion of slaves within it's city limit than Atlanta the decades before the civil war.

Ain't no geechie version of Frenchtown, 5th ward, Houston in Atl. Geechies preferred to migrate to FL and up north than atl.

I actually feel warm inside when I go on a Delta flight headed to Atlanta and a female flight attendant has a southern accent.

You would think Florida wouldn't have it but Tallahassee and many other places it's thick

I notice it in the midwest/ i wonder how the hell is this accent everywhere. More so than any northern accent
