Are we talking regional shyt? Cuz I don't notice that much by way of an accent here in Tallahassee at all. They stay asking me where I'm from though:russ:

I just left Atlanta for Thanksgiving and it's what most would consider "proper"

People in Louisiana and south Mississippi pronounce things a certain way and probably always will. No different than the Baltimore "ooo"

If we're talking twang, i only hear older people with that shyt:yeshrug:

I remember when I visited my fam in Houston in 2011 I was suprised when I heard young cacs without the southern twang though you could still hear the latter on the elders

It depends which NYC accent you're talking about
The old Paulie Walnuts cac one is dead, but there's still a black one that seems to change every 20 years or so. But it seems to be shared with New Jersey + New England
