I imagine programming 40-50 hours a week must be hell for a person who doesn't like the work itself. :manny:

You gotta like it homie. For me getting paid to program is like getting paid to play video games. I get the same high. But it's not for everyone so you just have to figure out what you want to do. No need to bash others for their career choices breh.

Nice, I will have to look into CoCo.

For my senior project a group and I are designing a website for some Chemistry professors to simulate 2D and 3D models.

Administering a Linux server and designing my own website from scratch should itself be impressive enough.

Other than that I'll probably just add minor projects/programs from classes on there. So that should be good enough to get my foot in the door for some companies.

I know some kid who used CoCo to build some retarded android app and last time i was talking to him he was telling me how he had gotten offers from both facebook and google but was trying to play both against each other in order to negotiate a higher salary. i was mad jealous of that kid.

yah, you gotta have your side projects. once they are in a good state post em up on your github, and just watch recruiters fill up your inbox with offers.

I moved out quite late, 28. I wasnt staying at home that much anyway, my girlfriend at the time had her own place so I was literally staying at hers and my parents house.

If you aint ready financially dont do it, but the joys of having your own place are crazy.Every guy has to have ab opportunity to have a bachelor pad before they have kids/get married. Imagine your girl walking around in nothing but a thong on, playing video games, and cooking half naked.:wow:

Nice. 28 is waay too late for me. By that time I will either have put a bullet in my head or my relationship with my parents will have deteriorated to a point of no return. But I feel you breh, moving out and having your own place for the first time is like doing crack for the first time :whew:

You can like the work and dislike your company and vice versa breh :yeshrug:.

My last job was with a software company in Dallas (wont name the company) but... basically they were trying to be like Google with how they were set up. It was heavenly :wow:

And I left after 10 months for a job with a much smaller, private company paying 11k more a year :yeshrug:.

Eventually i'll reach a nice combination of work environment and money, but until then, I just care about the money

You can do both.
Losing money trying out new things, travelling, and experiencing life, while maintaining a stable investment portfolio, employment, and housing isn't too difficult at all.
Most of the high-paid professional people I know also have a laundry list of hobbies, interests, and experiences.
I certainly hope to reach my benchmarks and still have time to fly around Angola :yeshrug:

:patrice:

He must have built in CoCo (Cocoa API) first for iPhones and then ported it to androids.
It's the same shyt really, its just Object Oriented C. If you know 1 you know the others, save some syntax-based differences. I've never done a port but i'm sure I could

If anyone is interested in getting started with App creation, I'll be willing to help.

But if you plan on designing apps for apple, you need to research building a hackintosh and getting a hold of the IDE (Xcode). Here is a link to the latest day build (night builds can be found with some proper lurking :youngsabo:)

Honestly though, if its your first time... make an android app. Its WAY easier than making an app for the iPhone.

I am under the assumption that I should have the following:
  1. A high-paying job or business (bringing in at least $75,000/year)
  2. A house
  3. A serious relationship
  4. A moderate level of fame
Is this realistic?
1. At least yellow belt in a martial art.
2. Pooped diarrhea by accident in their underwear
3. Have a driver's license.
4. Worked at a minimum-wage paying job where you work with a washed out old dude that gives you the determination to not want to be come a washed out old dude when you become his age.
5. Almost get beaned by a fast ball in a batting cage.

By 25? Man nah.

By 25 you just need to have:

No criminal history.
A college education or an intermediate level of skill in an acquired trade.
Should at least be making $35k (imo).
Hopefully no children out of wedlock.
A Roth IRA.
Ambition.

I know right. I know a nikka 27 still at home work at a skateshop making $25k a year at best in Bronx, NY.

OP just not living in reality. Half the nikkas I know who are around 25 are struggling hard if they ain't living at home and still trying to complete their degree.

I wonder if grad school is really worth it in the long term. I wanna do a masters since i'm young and i have flexibility but if its not gonna mean much in the end i might as well keep stacking and making moves. one thing is for sure, don't feel like you have to stick to the timelines set for you by society. it's a marathon not a race.
