I wonder if grad school is really worth it in the long term. I wanna do a masters since i'm young and i have flexibility but if its not gonna mean much in the end i might as well keep stacking and making moves. one thing is for sure, don't feel like you have to stick to the timelines set for you by society. it's a marathon not a race.

I won't do grad school unless my employer subsidizes it. Period.

Nice, I will have to look into CoCo.

For my senior project a group and I are designing a website for some Chemistry professors to simulate 2D and 3D models.

Administering a Linux server and designing my own website from scratch should itself be impressive enough.

Other than that I'll probably just add minor projects/programs from classes on there. So that should be good enough to get my foot in the door for some companies.

Word? :leon:

How are they going to do the simulation? Is it a web-based applet or is the website just providing the housing for the application? Either way, i'm assuming you have some php/css experience if that's what you chose to do.

Administering a linux server is very impressive to the right people. Are you planning on getting into the network engineering? Web design? Or Developement?
There's some heavy overlap in Web Design and development, but no so much with Networking unless you want go deeper and work infrastructure. And even then you're writing scripts and making rollouts, you aren't doing anything Object oriented. Its 100% procedural around here.

Either way, keep doing ya thing breh :salute:

Once you get your first apartment breh you gonna be feasting:blessed:

Especially if you aiming for young women, having your own crib and car sets you apart. I remember my first apartment, I was throwing chicks out of my apartment who didnt want to leave because the next chick was coming over in 2 hours.Every girl who came to my apartment, I smashed with no hesitation:ahh:

This is my dream. Once I get my own crib ill be :blessed:.

It depends on what you are doing. I think you have the right idea though. So many people think more degrees = more money.

I'll use my family as an example.

Oldest Brother - Software Architect, Didn't get his Bachelors till he was 28 (he went through... rough patches). Started his masters in Information Technology but decided against finishing cuz no financial game. Is now making ~140+,

Older Brother - Financial Manager for a non-profit Christian organization. Has 2 masters (History and Fine Arts, MFA). Got into Harvard, ended up to to Vandy. 4.5 years in post graduate studies. Is now making ~60k (I'm deadass serious)

Older Sister - DNP Psychiatrist. 4 years in post graduate studies. Owns a Clinic. Is now making anywhere from 200-250k depending on how much contract work she wants to do a month. She contracts (does rounds) at big hospitals when her clinic is closed. Mostly diagnostic iirc

Me - Network Engineer (for now). 0 years in post graduate, only have my bachelors and some certs. I have worked as a developer, System admin and now Network Engineer and Symantec SME. A little shy of 6 figures, but I do work on the side as well to supplement my income. Currently interviewing for my first 6figure job... but its in Oklahoma :francis:

Younger Bro - He's... working shyt out right now, but he'll be ok. 0 years postgraduate, bachelors in marketing.
Youngest Bro - Starting Med school, heading back up there in June :lawd:

My Dad - JD, DDiv, working on his doctorate in Criminal Justice. Has 4 masters. Makes basically nothing :flabbynsick:, but that's... for another thread. One day i'll go in on my dad and his nonsense obsession with stacking degrees :snoop:

My point is... unless you want to be a lawyer, doctor, or C-Level (CEO,CIO,VP), chances are you don't need a masters.

I think you know what you're doing though:obama:

:salute: for the breakdown. Honestly when I look at some of my friends / family I can give you a similar story. Credentials don't mean shytt if you don't have a game plan. Especially in tech, where your portfolio is king.

But bruuuuh your fam is on sum black excellence shyt :lawd: Congrats. Get that paper.

Bruh , :whoo: you are using WebGL straight? Not a library like three.js. I tried doing some WebGL stuff two years ago but I was like :scust::salute: after banging my head on those poorly documented APIs endlessly. What are you using with Java on server side? Glassfish?

This time last year when I had just turned 25. I was unemployed and bottom of my university class

Fast forward 1 year

I'm one of three to be working in the industry from my class and studying for my Masters degree.

The way I see it. Everyone has gears. They were in gear 5. I was in gear 2...i just kicked it up when it mattered.

Also there's more to being successfulsuccessful than being smart. You gotta know how to operate in a pool full of sharks, social skills, interpersonal skills, confidence.

Lastly I never lacked self belief. Sometimes you gotta play dumb to catch wise.
