Pops was just telling me he was paying $575 in the early 90s for a 1 bedroom in Hyde Park(affluent chi neighborhood). Same building has 1 bedrooms starting at $1450 in present day

And actually my pops old unit is for rent, says it looks the exact same except for new appliances and cabinets :dead:

$1020 for a 1-bedroom incl. parking, it was a sizable apartment too.

$575 for a 1 bedroom with a screened back den in N.E. D.C. 1 block from the Metro. It was directly across the street from train tracks which didn't bother me in the least. I was there from 99-03. Added bonus: I lived rent free my last year there because the landlord relapsed on crack and lost the property. It was the last time I also bought a car brand new. Lol!

It's been a while.

2 Bedroom apartment for $875. Might have been $900. This was back in 2006

I do remember 2 bedroom apartments going for $550-600 in 1999/2000

Mortgages and rents started skyrocketing in the early 2000s
