And nah it isn't waifus and all that. Quite simply put this ended up happening because the Persona series uses mostly the same formula. They tinker and add to it but the core is the same. Also at this point the base starting points of the story are the same. Meanwhile every mainline Final Fantasy game is different. You might have loved the last one but the next one has nothing to do with it. If you loved the last Persona game you'll at least like this one.

Persona 3, 4, and 5 all have the same writer, director, and composer. This core group works together and they have clearly perfected making the style of game they make.

Final Fantasy takes far more risk than Persona does and the results are an uneven series of games where people like certain ones and hate other ones. If anything this is a testament to the fact that people want more of the same rather than risk taking.

If in 5 or so more years another Persona game drops where you're a silent protagonist that's a teen high schooler forced to move to another city temporarily and you meet a delinquent talkative friend and stumble upon another world where you activate the power of Persona's people won't mind it. Meanwhile who really knows what the next Final Fantasy game will be or if they'll even like it?

I think Persona 6 might be different because 5 almost was going to be an action title about backpacking across the world. I think them sticking to their turn based roots worked for the best because P5 has the best turn based JRPG gameplay wise out right now imo.

They've pretty much lapped them in a sense that I know I'm going to get a quality experience with a mainline Persona rather than FF.

like you said, FF does something different every time. so why are we even comparing these games?

But what is a Final Fantasy game outside of crystals playing a role in the plot and summons? There isn't much commonality between the games. If you ask me XIII is a quality game well made and wasn't bad but like I said it took risk and was also a slave to its incredible budget so the final product may have been compromised. Didn't make it a bad game or nothing but some people loathed it. XV is nothing like it.

Final Fantasy 7 is probably the best and worst thing to ever happen to Square.

They have been trying to recreate that same magic every since.

I'm really not sure whats missing, but FF15 was so bad to me, and I was waiting on that game.

FF10 was probably the last decent FF game I played that wasn't super try hard.

Whoever said Persona is sticking to a certain familiarity is probably correct.

You know whats not fair about your critique? Final Fantasy is over 20 games deep. It couldn't do the same shyt for this long.
The OG FF games I loved the most.. the creator moved on to form Mist Waker and so far they just made a few Xbox classics (Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon) then they switched it up and FF7 is what ppl call the pinnacle of the series. Well sir, they made probably 30more Final Fantasies since then. By this point, there should be a FF fighter and FPS :francis:

I think the main reason the main team that did Persona left to make Studio zero was to take that idea and make "project re fantasy"
