I could never get into Persona.

I gave 4 a good 20 hours of my life and the whole time I was like :manny:

I mean it's polished and everything but shyt's just boring to me.

I'm a big JRPG/Anime fan too. But I like the sci fi/dark gritty animes.

This shyt is too bubbly and has a style that I don't vibe with too much. Maybe I just need to be in the right state of mind to get into it.

I like epic journeys across sprawling worlds, with great boss fights and a sense of scale to match. I like uncovering intricate mysteries of the world and being amazed by twists and explanations etc. I'm sure Persona has some of that, but if it does I'm not playing past 20 hours to get to it.

This joint was Incredible.

the last 3rd of that game was good. Was just aite up to that point though which sucked. But from the Leviathan chapter on it was damn good.
The funny thing is I was dissapointed in the game but its easily at least a 8. But ff has built up such a pedigree 8s are dissapointments. This is why this thread is goofy. Ff worst is still a step above others and they held to a higher standard. You think SE couldnt make a glorified dating sim :mjlol: with a ff4 era battle system? I will never get the hype over Recent personas

The characters in 4 were pretty heavy archetypes and VERY similar to 3's.

Yosuke was Junpie, Mitsuru=Yukiko, Kanji=Shinjiro AKA tough guy. Shinjiro especially.

And Yuusuke was def not like Kanji at all. Kanji was a angry tough guy who liked knitting embarrassingly enough.

I mean, in a medium so large it'll always be some similarity between characters but I didn't feel like any of 5's characters were very similar to 5s.
Mitsuru was nothing like Yukiko though. Yukiko was more fun loving deep down but maintained the outward appearance expected of her and was really repressed as you saw when you went into her shadow world and Mitsuru was an ice queen. Makoto and Yukiko are both somewhat repressed because of the expectations life placed on them Yukiko is a bit sillier and Makoto is more serious but they both aren't the front they put up in public.

Kanji was an offbeat guy the same as Yuskue. Kanji really wasn't a tough guy that's just the expectation people placed on him so he somewhat tried to meet it but he really didn't fit the mold he was kinda weird like Yuskue. Shinjiro was really a tough guy.

As for Youske and Junpei that role is there in all the games but Junpei is more comical.

I've watched a playthrough. I didn't even like persona 4 so I'm def not buying virtually the same game. and yeah the music is hit or miss. I'm not the biggest fan of this type of jazz. ff15 def has a superior ost at the least. I mean I'm not saying the game is bad. but it has like a 94 or something on metacritic. Its inconceivable to me but p4 got high scores as well and I actually disliked that one.

persona music is meh as fukk to me tbh...

come on now.

Nah Persona 5's soundtrack is heat

It also manages this feat without relying on ominous latin chanting songs.

Persona is so gotdamn overrated. This shyt is legit insane to me.

Drags on for 100 hours for no damn reason.

Pointless and endless dialog with no animations and little voice acting. Literally like reading a damn comic for half the damn game.

No fetch quests sure, but is eating burgers and studying everyday any damn better? At least you can press start so you can forward through the pointless spam.

Ps2 era dungeon designs. I'll admit it's better than the P4 auto generated shyt, but please. This shyt is wack as fukk in 2017.

And that's the damn game. You just do the above shyt for 100 hours on repeat. P5 is literally P4 with slightly better graphics and elite presentation. The battle system is LITERALLY the same. Like holy fukk if there is one thing to fukking innovate in a JRPG it would be the battle system. Oh wait they added guns :troll:

I really hope the main story ends up being good because every social link story is a snoozefest.

What keeps me going is just getting new characters and seeing what skills and outfit they'll rock in the dungeons. Fusing Personas is a cool little distraction too. But the story is so far is not much different than P4. The characters are not even a top 20 JRPG cast of all time and considering this has one of the best metacritic scoores for a JRPG ever it's a definite knock.

I'll still admit, FFXV is an incomplete mess that you can tell was passed around like a loose thot between devs. P5 is probably better than that game but it's still the most overrated game this gen. If you're an anime fan that likes visual novels I guess I can see why you would love this game. But it's just not that good. And I legit wanted to love this game after FFXV burned me. But Persona fanboys are still relatively new and will dikkride anything Persona. FF fans at least look at their franchise with a critical eye.
what jrpg series has had a major change in the battle system every game?
