smh. 2001 is not overrated at all. People rate it as a classic and it is a classic. There are very few albums that you can play straight through and feel every track... that certainly passed the test.
I selected 2005 as the end point because that was the end of their dominance. After 2005 you had a ton of flops starting with Blood Money, Rotten Apple, and followed by a lot of lackluster attempts from 50.
Eminem was able to recapture his success but as I said before he completely went away from anything that I would have listened to previously. I don't blame him for switching up but it is what it is.

Nah, that's like saying Young Money is a straight continuation of the Ca$h Money era of Juvenile, B.G. etc.... it wasn't overnight and it's more complicated than that.

for me it was 2002 after everything went downhill in terms of quality.
Some good years, and it was fire when I was younger....and epic when tracks like 'We All Die One Day' dropped, I loved that shyt...some good years, some good albums, some bad ones...overall, the whole sound didn't age well, and I rarely revisit a good deal of that material, including the bulk of 50's Aftermath debut, '2001', which I never liked, Games debut, or subsequent releases, I still run throw Obie Trice's first album, that shyt is dope to me still....but, that Aftermath/G-Unit sound was iconic in it's time, I remember when Banks 'On Fire' leaked, and I knew it would be huge that spring/summer....
