it began in '99 with the release of the Slim Shady LP. That was followed by 2001 (lets be honest probably the last Dre album we'll ever see or rather that will be relevant). I'd say it ended in 2005 with The Massacre and The Documentary.
Eminem is very hit or miss with me. Most of his songs I cannot relate to whatsoever but I appreciate talent and he had a nice run. Keep in mind I'm not saying in any way that his run has "ended" because he obviously is still moving more units than almost anyone but it's not the same... you listen to the Slim Shady LP or prior to that/right around that time and it's night and day in comparison to his new bullshyt.
2001 is a classic. I was just listening to it again the other day. Some tracks are dated but shyt like "fukk You" with Snoop and Devin and "Big Egos" or even "Xxplosive" are still ridiculous to me.
As much as 50 is hated on now and probably rightfully so, you gotta at least give him Get Rich or Die Tryin' that will be remembered as a classic.
Through the whole era there were maybe 3 classic albums and two that are very good. I will have fond memories of this catalogue but it does not stack up to Bad Boy or Death Row at all..
