lol @ all these posts doubting what I'm saying when I'm probably the only person in this thread that makes more than 150K and also happens to live in Atlanta.

Like I said, it greatly depends on your family situation, rather or not you have kids, what you're into, and where you work. Cats in here talking about buying houses on the outskirts, which sounds like a great idea until you factor in your commute to work which is likely to be a bytch if you work in Midtown like me. Want to rent inside the perimeter? You're looking at $1500+ rent for a one bed room. Atlanta is not cheap as it sounds and you'd still be competing with a lot of people with super long bread that will make your 150k look like peanuts out here. As my original post stated, you won't be broke, but you won't be balling outta control like the Big Tymers in their prime. Maybe you would relative to your own current standards, but by Atlanta standards? Nah...

Bruh why are you comparing apples to oranges.....

Multi-millionaire and 150k are two different people and lifestyles.

Living in midtown and the outskirts are two different types of expenses.

Commuting in ATL is a way of life and nearly everyone does it...especially the folks that have nice cribs for the money.

150k a year and a one bedroom that’s 1500 a month sounds great to me.

Then again I would never live in the outskirts of Atlanta to begin with.

of course 150k ain't a million but you should be more than fine and if you have a family you shouldn't want to live downtown anyway. I got a homeboy making good bread there as a consultant and he lives really well with a wife and a new kid and catches the train. Just don't try to keep up with the millionaires there and you'll be more than straight. There's more than one kind of quality of life in Atlanta, the lower class, middle class, upper middle class, and then there's a small subset of millionaires and multimillionaires. Stay in your lane and you'll see it's a huge population of people making probably less than 150 with nice homes, cars and everything. Just depends on what you consider living well. For most people, probably more like 99%, 150k in Atlanta IS balling.

150K a year in Atlanta - a city that’s described as having low wages sounds very great to me.

How could someone not be able to handle that down there?

Nikkas can easily get caught up if they dont know how to handle money.

Alot of folks down here are in condos above their means....and cars that are hurting their pockets...pair that with extortion and a bad drug habit....its a recipe for disater

I don't live in Atlanta, but one of the reasons I like the south despite racists and one horse redneck towns is the fact that the standard of living is relatively cheap.

150K will get you a nice 3-4 bedroom 2-3 bath home with a garage in a decent community, a nice vehicle, some money for savings, and some money to put in your pocket to spare if you play your cards right.

That's why I prefer the South to places in other regions like Cali, NYC, or Chitown were 150K will basically have you living check to check dang near in poverty.

It’s a lot harder to get 150K in many parts of the south compared to Cali, NYC and Chicago if we are really comparing here but I see your point. Living is definitely cheaper in the south or they say.

Why?

You need to go out in the streets of downtown every night?

I do not like suburban living. Idk what it is but I hate it.

I hate the fact that there is no sense of community and that you have to drive for every little task. I also hate traffic and couldn’t imagine dealing with traffic everyday to get to work.

Every time I go to my cousins house in GA I rent my own car so I can do things freely when I’m visiting.

yeah, cost of living is cheaper but wages don't match up either. but you can definitely get more for less. 300k house here vs a 300k house up north or out west can't compare.

Ok...so you just want to be able to walk everywhere ...I get it...but I rather have a nice crib and privacy...and quick access to my spot....I don't need community...and my job is only 7 miles away

True that. With 150K a year the first I would do is rent an apartment that is 25% to 30% my monthly income after taxes.

In GA with a 150K salary I can rent an apartment for 2K a month and that would be 25% of my monthly income.

Immediately I would save up another 25% a month and after 2 years would have a great downpaymwnt on a condo or home.

I would prefer a condo or multi family unit tho.

You will always have privacy as long as your door is locked.

What privacy am I lacking by living in a condo in the city?
