lol @ all these posts doubting what I'm saying when I'm probably the only person in this thread that makes more than 150K and also happens to live in Atlanta.
Like I said, it greatly depends on your family situation, rather or not you have kids, what you're into, and where you work. Cats in here talking about buying houses on the outskirts, which sounds like a great idea until you factor in your commute to work which is likely to be a bytch if you work in Midtown like me. Want to rent inside the perimeter? You're looking at $1500+ rent for a one bed room. Atlanta is not cheap as it sounds and you'd still be competing with a lot of people with super long bread that will make your 150k look like peanuts out here. As my original post stated, you won't be broke, but you won't be balling outta control like the Big Tymers in their prime. Maybe you would relative to your own current standards, but by Atlanta standards? Nah...

150K a year in Atlanta - a city that’s described as having low wages sounds very great to me.
How could someone not be able to handle that down there?
150k a year and a one bedroom that’s 1500 a month sounds great to me.
Then again I would never live in the outskirts of Atlanta to begin with.
I don't live in Atlanta, but one of the reasons I like the south despite racists and one horse redneck towns is the fact that the standard of living is relatively cheap.
150K will get you a nice 3-4 bedroom 2-3 bath home with a garage in a decent community, a nice vehicle, some money for savings, and some money to put in your pocket to spare if you play your cards right.
That's why I prefer the South to places in other regions like Cali, NYC, or Chitown were 150K will basically have you living check to check dang near in poverty.
Why?
You need to go out in the streets of downtown every night?
It’s a lot harder to get 150K in many parts of the south compared to Cali, NYC and Chicago if we are really comparing here but I see your point. Living is definitely cheaper in the south or they say.
ok Jeff Bezos![]()
I do not like suburban living. Idk what it is but I hate it.
I hate the fact that there is no sense of community and that you have to drive for every little task. I also hate traffic and couldn’t imagine dealing with traffic everyday to get to work.
Every time I go to my cousins house in GA I rent my own car so I can do things freely when I’m visiting.
Nikkas can easily get caught up if they dont know how to handle money.
Alot of folks down here are in condos above their means....and cars that are hurting their pockets...pair that with extortion and a bad drug habit....its a recipe for disater
Ok...so you just want to be able to walk everywhere ...I get it...but I rather have a nice crib and privacy...and quick access to my spot....I don't need community...and my job is only 7 miles away
