Eh kind of, but that's like the arbitrary divisions of the Attitude Era. For some, it started at KOTR 96. Others, late 1996. Others still, not until the middle of 1997 or later. And then somehow it ends at WM17 despite WWE still using the Attitude moniker for over a year after that.

nah. rock-n-wrestling & the federation years were branded separately. I'm just not clear on when exactly the federation years began.

as for the attitude stuff, this is why I'm hesitant to rank the attitude era. cuz it seems to be 3 different eras in one. and honestly, I think half of that chit was trash. I know a lot of people on here will swear by it because it was their gateway era but I'm sorry. the first few years, I only liked raw, and that was only because of the booking. most of their other shows were meh, and their PPVS were WOAT.

vince started yelling "attitude era" on raw in January '97 when they got the new set and moved to 2 hours. I guess when they added warzone.

as for the ending - who knows? LOL.
to me, the attitude era ended when they brought in all those wcw & ecw guys. it became a completely different product.(that's when it started being an all-around good product, imo.) but people say it ended with WM17. and now youre saying that they continued saying "attitude era" for a whole year after that. so I don't know.

I remember they started pushing ruthless aggression in summer '02.:manny:

I get shyt all the time from cats for saying AE was shyt. :salute:Prepare to get negged soon.

WWF definitely had a shift around late 1987 where the visual presentation changed to be much brighter and cleaner, and the shows became more family friendly (some of the shyt in 1985-1987 is :leon:in how dirty and lewd shyt got), but I'm hard pressed to say it was really a different era. I mean...look at Raw in 1998 and 2000. Very different show, different approach, improved production etc etc, but same era. Until they specifically start calling something by a new name, I think shyt holds over. Federation Years and RnW are interchangeable to me.

Official end of the Attitude Era came on 6/24/02 when Vince announced the Ruthless Aggression era and they started running with that branding in marketing.

I didn't really watch the reality era so I left it out. but from the stuff I watched, I didn't like most of it anyway.

if done right, the new era could be in contention for #1 when its all said & done. but for now, its #5 on my list.

1. federation years(2nd half of the Hogan era)
2. attitude era - I can do without '98-99 tho.
3. rock-n-wrestling(1st half of Hogan era)
4. ruthless aggression
5. new era
6. pg era

yea, I think that's pretty much where the federation years started. 1987.

as far as comparing it to the attitude era's pace of change, I think things changed more rapidly during those times because it was the most competitive era. seemed like all the promotions were re'ing up on the reg.

1. Golden Era: This is where the "big boom" of pro-wrestling started first. Almost everybody looked like a star.
2. Attitude Era: Too many wonderful moments, edgy, and it changed the face of the WWE.
3. Ruthless Agression: Women's division IMO was at an all time high right after the end of the Attitude Era and workrate was top notch, but you also had wonderful personalities and characters.
3. New Generation Era: The precursor to the Attitude Era and birth of some of the most revered pro-wrestlers.
4. PG Era: Anything after the Ruthless Agression sucked overall. Pro-wrestling is at its low point.

PG Era and reality Era are the same thing. WWE has only changed now since Orton, Taker, Triple H and other guys have shifted into less TV time and Punk/Bryan retired. Now NXT and all the recent signings are starting to make an impact.

1. New Generation Era. That is the era I grew up on. Yes it had a lot of foolishness but that was the era that the HitGOAT was in. Plus HBK, Diesel, Owen, Bulldog, Undertaker, Sid, OG heel Stone Cold Steve Austin and OG heel Mankind. No evil CEO or authority figure, no long opening promos, etc.

2. Attitude Era. This era started as I entered my teens and ended when I finished high school. It definitely appealed to my teenage rebellious ways and my immaturity as a teen.

3. Golden Age/Hulkamania. I started watching wrestling at the end of it but seeing Savage, Warrior, Mr. Perfect, Jake Roberts in their prime was great. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan on commentary was gold.

4. Ruthless Aggression. I stopped watching wrestling on a consistent basis at the beginning but I did watch here and there from 2002-2006. Seeing HBK return and seeing Benoit, Eddie, Booker T, etc shine was great. IMO they had the deepest and best roster in the history of the company during this time. Thanks to the Network I've been able to catch up somewhat.

The last several years have all been the same era. The cast of characters have changed but it's still the era of Cena, the era of gm's, the era of weekly and monthly filler, the era of meaningless titles, the era of corporate sterilization, etc.
