Thanking apart converting one side or my homes storage room into a gaming room :jbhmm: have nothing in it but black walls and a computer area a 50 inch on the wall for the ps4 and the rest open area to move around freely.
Sounds like an excellent VR playspace. I will most likely convert an extra room in my home to a VR room.

I'm really curious about this game
I just got through playing for about an hour or so (that's about as long as I can stand VR). The game is good :wow:

It's like a combo of Alan Wake (flashlight, monsters, low ammo) and Tomb Raider (ice-pick climbing). The graphics are good too; They're PS4 levels. If you got a Rift, definitely get this game :wow:

I'm having a lot of fun with House of the Dying Sun. I thought it was just simple combat, but later you get more ships to control. it has a third person 'tactical mode' where you can pause and give specific orders to your wingmen. you could basically play the game like that, RTS style

and that kind of interface is awesome in VR. it's like watching a bunch of toy ships have a battle in space. it's mesmerizing just watching shyt unfold :ahh:

flying your ship is where it's at though. being able to freelook around the cockpit while you 'dog fight' with other ships is great. near misses with asteroids and other ships. :whew: some times I don't miss :sadcam:

they say the Vive's ship within 2-3 days now. at least you won't have to wait months like we did

:ohhh: Damn months :sadcam:
I waited like 2-3 months from my preorder date (I got the first shipment batch too).

The Rift is worse. I got in under the 5 minute mark, so I got mine 3 weeks after release, but everybody else is waiting until the end of the summer. Some backers still haven't recieved their units. The Rift has a long, long wait. I like it better than my Vive. Glad I have both though (for the exclusives)

there's a lot of VR drama going on

I guess that game Giant Cop was available for pre-order via the Humble store as a Vive game, but yesterday it was announced that it would be a timed OR exclusive. people even dug up the SteamDB listing that shows Vive support actually being patched out of the game. pretty scummy, so people are pissed, and asking for refunds.

the Croteam (Serious Sam, The Talos Principle) devs came out and said that OR offered them a bunch of money for Serious Sam VR exclusivity, but they turned it down.

SUPERHOT and Killing Floor were also announced to be timed OR exclusives, so they're also receiving a lot of backlash. on SUPERHOT's Steam page, almost all the recent reviews are negative and mention the VR situation.

I've already said that I'm against the idea of peripheral exclusivity on PC. it's like if a game came out that only worked with a Logitech mouse. 'timed' peripheral exclusives are just extra silly. it's kinda understandable if OR funded the game from the beginning, but that's not the case with the above games. Giant Cop has been demoed on the Vive for months.

the kinda extra fuct up part of this shytuation is that these are all games that use motion controllers, but OR hasn't even released their Touch Controllers yet. so it seems clear that OR basically gave these companies money to delay their game until their motion controls are ready. and then make Vive owners wait a little longer, because... uh... money-hat :stopitslime:. it's pretty wack.

check out the Vive sub-reddit to see the current dumpster fire

seems like OR felt the heat, and decided to remove the hardware DRM

Latest Oculus Update Removes DRM that Blocked Porting Exclusives to Vive

A new update to the Oculus software that started rolling out to users today has removed the headset check. This check, which was introduced in a May software update a few weeks after Revive started making headlines in April, confirmed that an Oculus Rift was connected to the computer before users could launch an Oculus game. With this check in place, players who didn't have an Oculus Rift supposedly couldn't launch Oculus games. This was should have let Oculus protect the exclusive games it helped produce, fund, and which were a selling point for the Oculus Rift over other headsets.

However, shortly after the headset check was introduced, the author of Revive, a user who goes by the handle LibreVR, updated his hack to circumvent it.

Oculus has confirmed to Motherboard that it will not use hardware checks going forward. "We won't use hardware checks as part of DRM on PC in the future," an Oculus spokesperson told Motherboard.
