hahahaha.....nahThat PDF I linked didn't push you over the edge did it?![]()
Youtube videos wouldn't do it justice. You really gotta experience it yourself. 2D videos just don't let you experience this shyt.My Rift doesn't arrive till August. You need to do some Youtube vids or something Ciggavelli. Im so fukking jealous right now.
Oh so now the Vive is good??After playing with the Vive for the past few days, I gotta say...it is much more immersive than the Rift. I was dancing in a game, shooting guns with my hands, making lunch, etc. The experience is pretty amazing. Now that I finally have 2 good controllers, I gotta say, the Vive is pretty fantastic.
I still prefer sitting down and using a controller, but standing up, moving your hands and using them as instruments is a pretty fukking cool thing. The games are gimmicky, and I find myself only playing them for like 30 minutes at a time, but call me impressed
The wire out the back of your head gets in the way though. While playing La Peri and dancing and shyt, turning around real quick, etc., I almost tripped over the wires. I can't wait until VR is wireless. shyt would be
I'm gonna go back to the Rift tomorrow and do some more comparisons, but one thing I noticed is that the Vive has no nose gap. On the Rift, you can see a little bit out of where your nose is supposed to be. It breaks immersion a little bit. Nothing crazy, and you get used to it, but the Vive doesn't have it at all. I'm liking the Vive more and more, especially now that I have 2 good controllers and synced it via Bluetooth. If the Vive can play all the Rift games (which I'm skeptical about), I guess the Vive is the headset to get. It is heavier though. I still feel it on my head right now, and it's been off for 15 minutes.
The Rift does do movement better though. I don't like the "fast jump" the Vive uses. I wanna actually walk in virtual space. I don't wanna be teleported. I know the "portal jump" minimizes motion sickness, but my body is acclimated to moving in VR now, so I want it. The "portal jump" takes away from immersion.
All in all, I'm getting more and more excited by this tech. I'm glad I have both headsets. I can recommend both now. It's too bad I don't have more space in my living room for the Vive. I think a bigger space would make it even better. I kept running into my walls and shyt. I might move out and get a 2 bedroom specifically so I can play VR better![]()
I still like the Rift better, but I'm beginning to understand the benefits of walking around using motion controls. I was gripping bottles, throwing grappling hooks, flipping eggs. shyt was almost like real life. The games are gimmicky still, but I see the potential. I still think the Rift has better games, and tomorrow is gonna be an all Rift day. I can't wait to try that new Cryengine game "The Climb" on my Rift (it's an exclusive). You know how good Cryengine games look on PC. I wanna see how it translates in VR.Oh so now the Vive is good??
Hmm.. As far as ruining non VR games, ehh.. A virtual IMAX screen with improved resolution for the game itself would be crazy.
When you're in VR and you're using the motion controllers, does it feel weird to see your virtual hands "grip" something even though you're just pressing a button to do so?? Like is there things that feel disorientating even though I guess your brain is being tricked?I still like the Rift better, but I'm beginning to understand the benefits of walking around using motion controls. Let's just say I'm happy with both purchases now.
If you can truly play Rift games on the Vive, I guess the Vive is the way to go. However, I'm skeptical that it will continue that way (Oculus isn't gonna allow it for much longer I don't think). If you can't play Rift games on the Vive, then I choose the Rift as the better headset (the games are much better)
The Vive controllers actually have grip buttons on both sides, where you would naturally grip something in real life. Gripping a baseball bat and a tennis racket actually felt real natural. I didn't think the grip buttons were useful in the beginning, but once you get used to it, it almost feels like real life (surprisingly)When you're in VR and you're using the motion controllers, does it feel weird to see your virtual hands "grip" something even though you're just pressing a button to do so??
