I don't agree with this article but this is silly. You can harass because of proximity. It does not mean you value the features of the people you are harassing more than others or that you value you them at all. The two things have nothing to do with each other.

stop it. black women bytch and complain that they cant walk out the door without all these black men thirsting all over them. then in the next moment, we're all rejecting them and passing them over for white women.

y'all just love to paint black men negatively at both ends of the spectrum.

just like BW will claim we all like ugly sloppy white women, but in the next sentence, we're too vain and want women to look like strippers.

Try again. Your post didn't do anything to discount what I said (the truth). You can harass and even lust after a woman and not actually value her or her features Its really not a hard concept.

Women are using "attention" as a gauge and not us.

"You can harass and even lust after a woman and not actually value her or her features"

How would you know unless you are a mindreader?

"Why do I feel so invisible sometimes then? Passed over?"

why does she feel invisible? how are BM passing her over when we're too busy harassing them (while synonymously praising white women)

So we are going to use her word to speak for all Black women, when the post I originally quoted spoke about Black women and street harassment in general and not just her? Oh ok.

You also can't seem to tell the difference between speaking about the way you feel you are viewed in a broader, social context as opposed to how you feel you are treated in your personal life. The woman is married according to your own post. If she feels invisible to her husband then she has bigger problems than all this. But I'm pretty sure she's talking about feeling invisible in terms of Black beauty being represented and appreciated (or at least not constantly disrespected) which is why right before that she talks about stereotypes and not personal anecdotes of her being passed over.

The irony here is that many of those stereotypes she spoke about you yourself believe about Black women, so I have no idea why you're playing dumb.

read the comment section, most of the BW agree with her sentiments. it's a hypocritical double edged sword that's been called out several times on this forum (especially doing the street harassment movement)

no, the problem is white men aren't promoting black women like that. so instead of taking your complaints up with the guys who actually control the shyt. y'all bed them, and turn to us and pretend we're the reason black beauty is undervalued.

and if you're going to break stereotypes, really break them. "white women do it too" is not addressing shyt. boasting mixed/biracial women as your most attractive doesn't help either.

like i said, BW are pissed because BM receive more media promotion. something that isn't even tangible. meanwhile, twice as many black women are able to find gainful emploment; but BW wont make any huffingtonpost blogs about that disparity. they're too busy patting themselves on the back, boasting about how successful they are in comparison to black men.

Since when is Black and Puerto Rican, "Mixed" race?

Here's a quote from the author
Everywhere from pop culture to the hood, men are either consciously or subconsciously telling black women they aren't "wanted." I have seen a black man not stare twice at a black woman who I would see as beautiful and yet I've seen him break his neck for a decent (if dare I say unattractive) woman of another race... huh?
As you can see, she strictly implied that Black men don't show Black women any attention, be it negative or positive. In her own words, "invisible".
I don't known if Black women have elected her as their spokesperson, but if you have, you're going to have to come to a consensus. It is either we don't look at twice at even beautiful black women, yet we break our necks for unattractive non-black women. or you can't step outside without droves of black men breathing down your necks, invading your personal space. So which is it?

The comment section is not representative of any thing. If it is the coli is representative of what Black men are like, and that means you speak for Black men. Which would then mean BM hate and think the worst of BW. Do we really want to go there?

Nobody cares about white men but y'all. Please get that through your heads. Time and time again studies show BW want nothing but BM while the opposite is true for BM (anything but Black women in online studies) but you all turn around and pretend its US that seek their validation. We don't care. We just want to not be hated and degraded by our men.

and if you're going to break stereotypes, really break them. "white women do it too" is not addressing shyt. boasting mixed/biracial women as your most attractive doesn't help either.

Once again you are the one bringing up white people and then trying to pass it off on me. Ridiculous. And Black women boast mixed/biracial women as the most attractive? Not Black men?? You are insane lol

"Twice as many" (not even close to accurate, but ok) BW finding gainful employment isn't surprising because we go to and complete school at much higher rates than BM. This needs to change. But even with that we are still not getting hired at a rate proportionate to that level of educational attainment. In fact we're the only group whose unemployment rate remains unchanged. Yes, BM's has gone down, ours has stayed just as high, despite the degrees.

Also, media promotion/visibility is incredibly important. To say it isn't is to have no grasp on white supremacy tactics at all. When you are invisible people are indifferent to the horrors you go through, so not only do you not get help when you are wronged, you will have a hard time getting anyone to even acknowledge you were wronged in the first place. You become the whipping pole, the mule, who doesn't even have a legitimate gripe to being the whipping pole/the mule because that just becomes 'your place'.

I don't known if Black women have elected her as their spokesperson

We didn't. And you will note that she mentioned pop culture, which is obviously what she's mostly referring to.

have you ever admitted you were wrong about anything on this forum? what, your okcupid or plentyoffish stats are valid, but thousands upon thousands of BW complaints online arent?

it's retarded to admit media promotion is incredibly important, while pretending BW don't care about the men who control their image (white men). BW are literally going nutty over lack of media promotion, but they want to pretend BM are the ones undervaluing them in media.

and it's not solely about education, it's about preferential treatment BW receive from employers over their men. but i'm done with you, you will drag this shyt out all day and never admit you're wrong.

For any black women who believes Black men are responsible for BW portrayal in the media should definitely read the bolded. Like I said in that other thread Black females in films; non-blacks mostly see BW as stereotypes. Again not bashing BW but its the truth.

She lost me the minute she started expressing adoration of her boyfriend's beautiful curls. Whether she realizes it or not, that fondness of his hair is a symptom of self-hate that she clearly is infected with and hasn't yet acknowledged. And a black woman wearing a weave is not the same thing as a white woman wearing one. She can try to excuse obvious self hating tendencies within our community by referencing similar behavior exhibited by other races, but that argument is facile and intellectually dishonest. Black women, from birth, are raised to hate the inherent beauty of blackness and to worship the unattainable ideal of whiteness advertised by popular media. Black women are bombarded daily with images that amount to :scusthov: at their appearance. And black men have fallen victim to the same campaign of white worship and black denigration. You see it on this forum, where many socalled blacks worship white/Spanish/mixed women but never fully black females.

But shouldn't black women want non black men since we watch the same TV and have the same conditioning?
