I will say China stepped their game up when it comes to audio equipment. Listening to music through a Chinese DAC/Headphone amp right now (Fosi Audio). At this point, I'll take equipment coming out of Shenzhen over Tokyo, which would have been crazy talk just a decade ago.

This is not really true. The US has the most modern high capacity rail network in the world. We don't need high speed passenger rail everywhere cause we don't need it, thanks to our equally robust air and interstate networks.
