A few years ago, this thread would have been long bushed.
Honestly some folk in here just wanted an excuse to get shyt off their chest. The topic could have been about Jupiter's moons and somehow the usual suspects would have spun it into a diaspora war.
FTR I don't know anybody who would be "mad" or have a problem with Ryan Coogler acknowledging his Black American roots. I know that's what some folks
want, but it's a captain obvious statement he made. That's where he's from. That's where his forefathers are from. Duh.
The man has also acknowledged his African roots going much further back, has made Black Panther which is (although fantasy) very heavily African focused, has made a Black American CLASSIC in Sinners, has a couple or more non-FBA actors in the movie, has a scene where it shows African music as well as FBA music from the old to the modern etc...so clearly he's not anti other black people. That is VERY obvious. So there's not even a problem here.
I'm UK based and just got back from the cinema filled with teth...excuse me, black people even on a Sunday night who all clearly enjoyed it....so clearly there's no problem here except trolls flapping their gums online.
Some folk just can't live without chaos SMH.
