So if race is an artificial construct that was created to segregate ourselves and it needs to be dropped, than shouldn't tribes, ethnic groups, and other social constructs and differences between each other within the same race(IE tribal and ethnic conflicts in Africa) need to be dropped also?



If I went to some African ethnic groups who didn't get along, and I started reciting some poem talking about "Our ethnic and tribal diffirences are just a social construct created by our ancestors, we're all family, we're all one, we're one Africa, Yaddi-Yaddi-Yadda" they'd give me a weird look, and tell me that I don't understand the geopolitical complexities of African nations.

the difference between a car and your body is that you can choose to get out of the car and leave it somewhere. you can give it to someone and it's not yours anymore. you can't do that with your body. so yes, your body is you. how it looks and is built is part of your identity. until they manage to upload your consciousness on a harddrive and re-install it on machines or other clones, then your body is part of who you are until death and then you (your consciousness) stops being at this level.

This line of thinking seems to be the hot new thing with these new age, pretentious, millenial hipsters. Many of you may remember the famous Raven Symone interview where she says, "I'm not an African-American. Don't call me that". Seems like alot of today's kids are adopting this dangerous ideology of rejecting labels. It is profoundly psychologically damaging to reject who you are, and in many cases it's considered a mental illness. A black person is a black person. A white person is a white person. That is who you are so deal with it.

This isn't true because the seeds for the Modern concept of race as we know it know where planted during the Spanish Inquisition. It was certainly established before 1684.

Yes it is true because race still was not a concept during the Spanish inquisition and my point is that even though race was not a concept, there still was a case of "othering" in which CACs deemed those not of CAC skin to be a savage. It is widely accepted among scholars that official conception of race was in 1684, that is an undisputed fact.
