I have a 49 Sony 4k set with passive 3d instead of the active one with the shutter glasses. Love this TV & my nieces & nephews love the 3d feature when they visit. I really wanna grab an OLED curved 4K LG set. I was looking at one is Best Buy & the picture was pretty damn good. For myself I wouldn't go higher than a 55

I've heard this before, never really believed it til I went to someone house and their cave was rather small. The TV did look way too big for the room.

I'm weird, I don't really like super big screens. I prefer TV's between the 42'' and 50." I got a 46 inch in the living room.

And no TV in the bedroom....the bedroom is for sleeping, reading and.......:shaq:

That's all good and everything however if I tell Samsung I want their 78" 4K QLED set for $10K the only thing their going to suggest is Visa/MC/AMEX and delivery destination. I have a 65" 4K unit from them it's 10ft from my couch, looks perfect.

Come to think of it, it could be bigger, maybe up to a 75...

Nice setup! I remember your post from the official thread in the Arcadium, real clean. If I remember correctly your overheads were flush in the ceiling.

I'm running Atmos 7.1.4 in that pic with the Onkyo TX-NR3030 network AVR.

Went with Energy Speakers for main, center, height, and surrounds. Klipsch bought them awhile back

Reference Veritas 6.3 towers
Connoisseur C-C1 Center
C-R100 Surround Sides and Rears
Take-5 Satellites on the ceiling for Top Front and Rear.
Velodyne VA-1215 XII sub
Samsung 4K UHD BD player
Sony S7700 dvd/cd player.

I'm thinking a Samsung 75" or 78" when I upgrade the 65"

Thanks breh, been an a/v head for way too long, it's gotta look and sound right.

HDR is nice as long as the source material has it produced properly, the industry still has some bugs to work out.

Dolby vision is the superior hdr format if you don't have Dolby vision your lost

if you are going to buy a new 4k tv

1).Make sure it had hdr
2). make sure it has a 10bit color panel and can at least hit over 700 nits of peak brightness to show her correctly

if your on a budget my top LCD 4k hdr tv

1). vizio p-series
it can at least hit 600 nits, has Dolby vision and can stream atmos and had a fald screen so the black gets pretty dark

2). LG sj950
just bought a 75inch uhd sj950 for my parents open box for 1600!!!! has 10bit color, 1000 nits peak bright brightness, and can stream Dolby vision, only weakness is it's edge lit so the black level are moderately dark but not as good as fald screen

3). the TLC 4k uhd
it's budget friendly no matter the size of tv, the peak brightness is at least 600 nits but it had a fald screen so the blacks will be above average and can stream Dolby vision.

now if you got the money

1). sony 75inch xbr zd9
it can stream Dolby vision, stream dobly atmos
over 2000 nits of peak brightness,
and fald screen with local dimming and produces the darkest blacks of ant non oled on the market
the last set that can do 3d also

2). 65inch LG oled

3). sony a1e oled
both oled have unlimited contrast but peak brightness is limited to 600-799ish
