A few months ago, I made a 2 ten storey bee hive with years of left over timber from my dads previous projects. Im a month away from extracting 100 kgs of prime yellowbox honey(i live next to a yellow box plantation). These are the results. The beehive is 2.5 metres high so could only capture the bottom half. Most of the timber used are native to Australia, with alot of red gum, blue gum, cherry, and maple. Some of them are exotic african mahogany.
Ill post pics of the internals when I open the hive for inspection. I didnt have my bee suit on today. The bees are italian. I think i might get the Australian native bees next year. I fukked up the concrete base tho.
I might set another foundation next year with proper steel reinforcment. I moulded the stainless steel locks myself. It took me 2 months to construct, it would of taken me a few weeks if i didnt have exams.
