Theoretical physics is a joke at this point and so is religion. The "truth" will never be found because it wasn't meant to be. Go live your lives cause ain't no damn advanced society coming to rescue/destroy humans. shyt is just the scientific version of the God delusion, same pathology.

:what:Theoretical physics is a joke at this point? Really? Which part? Also, at where and how you practice or follow enough science to know what theorectical physics has become?

Anyway, the "truth" can be - and is often - found. It's those that are busy looking for "TRUTH" that are shyt out of luck.

Redundancy is a yoke. :shaq2:

Alright, go and read about how Stephen Hawkings thinks "blackholes don't exist" or "how the universe maybe a hologram"

I like theoretical physics as a way to spark possibility and entice the imaginations of future scientist but anyone thinking that field isn't bullshytting is funny style.

our planet is nothing more than an atom inside of another living breathing being.

the universe is inside of us and we are inside of it.

this thread can get deep if I meditate and access the ancestral realms again like I did last summer.

What part of Hawking's opinion and a potentially hyperbolic hypothesis make theoretical physics a joke. I ask because I'm trying not to make too many assumptions about what you actually know or understand about theoretical physics.

I like theoretical physics for many reasons, not least because of the many real world applications and findings that have come from the field. I also like the maths involved in the study of the subject. Anyone that thinks it's bullshytting has probably had too little contact with physics as a whole.

I don't know, maybe the continual changing of his stance on the subject due to conundrums. I just think there isn't a filter on what gets published, instead of actually vetting and being meticulous about scenarios that may be valid.

2nd. I never tried to discredit the Big Bang theory. I'm just saying I believe that if that theory really happened God is the one that made it big and made it bang.

If something occurs that I don't understand or can't make sense of yea I might insert a little "that's gotta be God" because that's what I use as a reminder that I'm in control of nothing when it comes to my life. I have control of what I do, but ZERO control of what's done around me or to me.

Logic can only go but so far. When we enter the realm of spiritually, which is something I view to be vital to my life and everything I do, there is no grey area. There is no "well you might be right".
when it comes to a question if whether or not my higher power exists There's only "I'm right"

You can be right all day when it comes to the scientific logic of why do stars do this why do planets do that but if your logic can't explain what created planets and stars ...you already kno my answer

See this is the problem I have with your argument.

Not only did the big bang have to arise as an idea, but some how you manage to stick "god" in there and let god take the credit, where as before the 20th century, you wouldn't have even thought to do that.

Isn't that what a good scientist does? Goes where the evidence leads? Not that his position on black holes have shifted by much. He certainly seems to think they are still a physical phenomenon. I still don't see how that makes theoretical physics a joke.

yeah...so was quantum mechanics. :mjpls:

you being a physicist and all.

Hawkings been free-falling since Susskind crushed the building imo

Instead of being more careful with his thought process, Hawkings seems to have no filter and spew out any possible scenario. It's why I hate those social studies that come out that don't understand correlation doesn't equal causation and tend to be agenda driven.

Napoleon, you make no sense. If you can vet something theoretical then that's obviously not an issue....

I'm cool with theoretical physics for one reason at this point.

ITS ONLY BEEN 100 YEARS.

Think about that.

We're just figuring this shyt out. If its wrong, cool.

BUT GODDAMN dude...we've come SO far in such a short time. Let it work itself out.

I don't disagree.

All the great scientist had a great base in humanities (Philosophy especially) and theoretical sciences that showed them HOW and WHY they should think not necessarily WHAT, so it isn't the field itself that I have problem with but it's representatives not doing their due diligence.

You don't even have to go that far, just tweak the geography a bit to where he'd still be born in the 80s, just in a country where Christianity is a minority religion.
