String's weakness was thinking he was more than a drug boss. Avon knew what he was and made millions doing it, meanwhile String was emptying his bank account trying to be Trump.Avon was a small minded chump who lacked vision. When Stringer died, I stopped watching The Wire. Stringer’s weakness was his loyalty to Avon. He should have had him killed.

Yeah, most successful gangsters who avoid prison and an early death do what String did. They go legit - or, at least, successfully give the appearance of doing so. String’s missteps were part of of the process, but the setback didn’t deter him from continuing to create a future that insulated him from the streets. Avon’s obsession with street cred cost him his freedom and the life of his partner.
