It’s very annoying when I’m in meetings that want you to turn the camera on because it’s always for some stupid ass reason. “I want to see everyone’s face when we introduce ourselves” or some shyt. And it’s always with people who you would never see in person even if you were back in the office. I don’t need to see you to do my job and neither do you. I always say changing my camera permissions will crash my setup or flat out decline. It’s weird as fukk. Sometimes I mention I will “bless them” with seeing my face next time.

The company is doing that to make sure you are doing what you’re supposed to be doing and where you’re supposed to be. My job does the same thing, it took me a min to figure out why it was such a big deal for an hour meeting once or twice a month but then it hit me. There are gray areas in this work from home game they’re still trying to figure out. You might have just brought yourself some unwanted attention and they gonna be monitoring you more closely

I was actively contributing to the call, and there is no “where” we’re supposed to be. WFH is anywhere you have wifi access, at least in my case. You can be at a starbucks, home, hotel etc.

but word ultimately ill just turn the camera on in the future, haircut ready or not.

He said so the clients can feel more comfortable with each of us, said i was contributing verbally greatly, but they need to put a face to the words spoken.

it wasnt a big deal, he was just annoyed. I take my appearance seriously and am known for being clean and sharp.

don’t listen to these breddas

It doesn’t matter if your boss is white or black, you came across unprepared

take it as a learning experience bro

Lol I just lined my afro and my facial hair for my interview last year. Always be prepared to turn it on, no one cares about your grooming. It's a pandemic everyone looks like that.

OP could’ve pretended he was in a public setting “like a coffee house” and just wore a hat and mask.

I already WFH but really be out at various spots since I don’t have like a good home office environment.

Im always masked up…… yesterday I was in meetings looking like Kakashi from Naruto
