I don't think i've ever had my camera on since WFH started. Pretty sure my coworkers probably forgot what I look like, since it's been about 2 years since they've seen me lol.
I declined to turn my Zoom camera on at work, was I wrong?

As someone who despises turning on his camera for work zooms... I feel you.
But this is basically to ensure you're working or at least look like you're in a working environment and not goofing around (even if most daily responsibilities of office jobs can be done in half the time of the standard American workday)

Them white people don't be caring how they look except for the women.
I work in IT and if someone has an issue with their webcam and these women be getting on their webcam looking old you can tell in their faces that they are embarrassed like "oh shyt I look terrible on camera"

No one at my job does... Because it's a security issue. I'm on zoom calls at home in boxers and mouth full of cereal while the call is mutedi never cut my zoom cam on for work
but we don't turn them on at work either for the above mentioned security issue.

OP while other black people may have noticed, they would’ve paid more attention to the beard more than the line up. Even then, they would’ve been like he could’ve shaved etc but there he is.
You gotta pick your battles. I don’t turn my camera on for meetings. Once last year we had a meet and greet type of thing because we had a lot of new employees so it was mandatory. If they ask, I’m prepared with a head wrap since my hair stays in twists and covered these days

I wear a du rag for meetings too. But they're the fancy velvet ones that you tie around the front.

everytime i have a meeting i make sure my doorag off and have a nice plain tee/sweater on in case I have to talk or go on cam i also make sure I am sitting at a desk and not laid out on the couch or sumn. beard i dont worry about much
