I feel like your boss just wanted to be nosey. My boss never used to turn on the camera in 1 on 1 meetings but now she does ever since she got her new house. Cacs like to flex they just do it in different ways from us. Just turn on a filter

yes, you are wrong. u risked your job over a haircut

u acknowledged your coworkers have no idea about this hairline stuff, so they probably werent even gonna be judging u. and if your white coworkers were like "oh look at his hair he looks POOR like he sleeps in a box outside" that'd make them racists

i don't think u should associate your natural hairline with homelessness either.

before i went natural and during the beginning i had all types of hang ups that i had to work through. u be willing to risk your job and feeling so deeply about a hairline likely means u have some issues u need to work through as well.

thankfully i think my company internalized one of those think pieces about how it’s violence to ask a black woman to go on camera, so we rarely ever have cameras on during meetings.

I know cats in here be talking super Black ish but the reality is you are paid by whoever your employer is to do a job and hold a standard. You should have been prepared since you were on the clock to be presentable. I do realize that society now is ok with mediocrity and that everyone is a boss etc etc.

If I have a meeting with the higher-ups or entire division I'll touch up the first couple rows of my locs the day prior and clean up my line/beard. Takes me 15-20 minutes. I've had impromptu meetings but I can still fix myself up in the bathroom in less than 10 minutes.

If you're really out here looking homeless that's on you. White people aren't concerned about crispy line-ups like that if you're already on payroll, and you need people to know who you are for the future. It works in your favor even more if other people keep their camera off, I still need eyes on me just like when I was in the office. You never know what position will be posted next quarter.
